Need a good .45 Leave your thoughts and suggestions

Budget sits at around $2000 Pretty impressed by the colt 1911 never heard or seen it prior to this thread. That's all you got ???????????
I've been looking into the mark 23 and fnx 45. Anyone got any cons that they can mention other than the price tag

In post #5, I wasn't sure of exactly what 45 caliber you had in mind so to cover all the bases, I posted a photo of all the different 45 calibers I have.

I assume the 45 ACP is what you're interested in. From the 1911's and the 1911 'wanna' bes that I've had and those I presently have, the smoothest & sweetest yet, especially the trigger, is the Kimber Super Match II I recently acquired. A couple closer shots of it.

The HK Mark 23 is the best engineered gun to ever be a total failure in its intended use. Take a look at the HK45 pistol if you want a gun with a similar level of engineering, that can actually be fired with one hand, by a human being.

Gold Cup, within your budget, great resale value, very accurate, looks good, shoots great... and mine just went through 3000 rounds of reloads not a single malfunction of any kind.

Dan wesson vbob is hands down the best .45 for the money. Hk's are highly recommended by hk owners trying to justify paying way too much for what it is, and people who have never shot hk's :)

I am voting for a colt 1911 is any shape or form. You will end up modifying it to suite your taste. If 1911 is not your cup of tea, then M&P is the way to go.

I love the 1911 platform and recommend it. I have a Ruger P90 in .45ACP and it is a decent pistol and it costs around $400 used. It is not made anymore, they make the P345 now and I don't have one. The Ruger "P" series guns were made for police service and are accurate and reliable and stainless steel. They started out with the P85 and it got a bad name due to QC issues at the get go. Decent guns and not expensive.

The three I currently own: Sig 220, Wilson Combat CQB and a Dan Wesson PM7. The Sig 220 was my first .45! Flawless in operation and accuracy out of the box. It's an older one and I don't have any experience with the new ones. The Wilson was bought as an ego stroke. Accurate and reliable but, jeepers, it was spendy!! FWIW, I consider the Dan Wesson as the best value out of the bunch I currently own! Two others that I've sold I say are worth considering are the S&W 625 and the Norinco Sport! The Norc had a nice finish but the internals had some rough and sharp edges which didn't take anything away from its accuracy or reliability. I was truly impressed with it, great value and performance for the money!! The S&W 625 revolver, out of the box was extremely accurate and had a gorgeous trigger. Selling it has been one of the quasi-regrets I have......the sale financed my AR15 buy, that's why it's only a quasi-regret.

I'm a big fan of my Sig P220. Having said that I just picked up a relatively cheap Ruger SR1911 and its a great gun too. I put 300rnds through it today and it was flawless. A real joy to shoot.

Good luck with your search!
