Is it worth reloading 9mm?

I just bought a RCBS rock chucker supreme kit from Cabela's. I bought it mainly to reload .338 win mag and 30-06. Since it comes with a single stage press do you guys think its worth reloading 9mm or does it take too long seeing as its a fairly cheap round.
Thanks

It boils down to what your own time is worth to you. I used to reload 45 ACP on a lee hand press, and since I didn't shoot a ton of pistol it was fine.

Now that I'm delving into IPSC, it would simply overwhelm my free time to try and reload the quantity of 9mm needed on that old hand press. So I ended up upgrading to a progressive and it's done wonders for my time.

So IMO, it boils down to just how much 9mm you plan to shoot, that should guide your decision on this.

Thanks, I don't shoot my 9mm all that much but even so seeing how I can get 1000 rounds for $250 or under I just don't think it's worth it. Maybe one day when I upgrade to a progressive!

Its worth it, you can shoot twice as much.

$3 for 50 lead projectiles.
$1.75 50 primers
$0.88 50 powder loads (3.8gr tg)
Brass is free.

total $5.63 for 50 rounds of 9mm (124gr) and takes about 15 min on my lnlap

I see your point but its probably not worth it for me until I upgrade to something better than my current press.

How much does the reloading gear cost to get into it though, assuming you are starting with nothing?

I am just getting into it but I really enjoy playing around with my .338 ammo to get it just right. Can't see myself liking reloading 9mm at the moment.

Doesn't take too long to pay for itself when your shooting .338

Fair enough, I shoot .223 and 9mm, it would take a long time to save that kind of money in those guages. Mind you, I'm still going to be getting in to reloading, but to build more accurate rounds as opposed to save money...

I have been reloading for 2 years, my lnlap setup cost me around $700 for everything (press, dies, bushings) i have reloaded enough that the press is paid for just from reloading 2000 308win.

It's gonna take a lot of reloading to make back that $800 investment...

Its not too bad considering that the ammo I was shooting before cost about $70 for 20 rounds taxes in, reloaded costs me under $2 a round. Plus I split the kit with a buddy so its not going to take long. I will save a bit on 30-06 as well.

so 25$ per hundred plus tax for new or...
berry bullets 10$/hundred ++ = half the cost estimate

I'm happy to see factory or commercial reloads SO CHEAP as to bring up this argument....If I was seriously shooting 9mm I'd probably load simply because the savings could be on the order of a range membership for the year but for casual shooting, no way - especially on a single stage!
