Purchased in December of 2011. Happy with the product but one day it would not turn on.

Changed batteries twice to fresh batteries... no dice.

Was referred to Defense group optics for warranty replacement from Lucid. Sent it in and arrived at its destination mid December... Now I am still waiting...

Sad months... It's frustrating because I've e-mailed which I receive no replies. I've phoned in January and was told it was forgotten about and will be shipped.
Phoned in February and was told it was at the doorstep to be picked up.
Phoned In late Feb, March and now getting no answers or call backs.

I guess having too much patience and not being aggressive enough is the issue.

Anways.... Sad months.
Lucid... Your product is great. Your warranty in Canada is lackluster.

It's a good thing my O/U and my two toddlers are keeping me busy for me to not be too distressed about this warranty nightmare.

Anyone else have any experience with Lucid for warranty? Did I just fall through the cracks?

April update:

I've had 0 call backs from Defense group optics and no e-mail response.

I've found out from Jason Wilson from Lucid that they are in a lawsuit against Defense Group Optics who were the warranty provider in Canada.

Just letting you fine folks know not to send any Lucid gear to Defense Group Optics until Lucid and DGO sorts their stuff out.

Wow, I'm shocked. You bought a POS optic and said company has zero customer service as well?! Who knew....

Perhaps the hordes of other buyers of the sold out everywhere hd-7, would like to share similar stories of failure and disappointment? Anyone? Is this thing on?

Here's a few other opinions:

Great, opinions from gun rags and the like who are either paid to endorse, receive free product to test, or simply don't run their gear hard enough to know what is or isn't quality. A reddot that looks like a magnified optic(ala ACOG) that is from a small company that has no track record and sources parts from Asia. Do tell, what serious competitors or MIL/LE units have adopted these oversized reddot optics? They're sold out for a couple reasons. Most Canadian retailers are incapable of ordering or maintaining enough stock to fulfill the market demands, regardless of the product being offered. Second, they're cheap in price and quality and that is the standard of the day for most who own firearms. You know what else sold out early on and was a complete waste of money, Rhineland Arms rifles. Sales alone do not make a product quality, McDonalds is another example of volume sales of pure sh*t product.

As for the OP, I hope he gets it sorted out quickly and either has no more problems(unlikely) or dumps the optic for a better piece of kit.

This doesn't look promising at all.

It sounds to me like I am at a loss of a $300 optic.
I looked into fraud and reporting fraud but getting money back seems very highly unlikely.

Jason. I can understand the awkward position this puts both of us in and maybe we can work a deal out that would keep both of us happy.

Seeing as how you pointed me to John in December to send your product for replacement and he was essentially an extension of your company in a way, the onus of replacing the unit falls in your lap.

I have proof my product was sent and received by the company you had as your representative for warranty and the value of other items that John may have in hand should be sought after in your own lawsuit.

Is there anything you can come up with that will be satisfactory to both of us?

to me
Dear Charlie,

In order for me to warranty - repair any issue, LUCID will need the item back for a technical review.

Now... I'm done with this. I'm just going to dish out the laundry now because I'm done with this issue and this company.
A company who can't replace a unit because one of their own representative is in a lawsuit with their parent. I still believe the onus falls to the parent company. I could be wrong but that's just how I feel as a consumer. At least it's a 4 month long chapter I can close.

*done*

I'm finished with this. As much as I had liked the product for its cost, I am disappointed with the service.

I hope everyone else fares better who might be in a similar situation.

That is extremely unfortunate. I firmly believe you get what you pay for - in most cases. The higher priced name brand products would be unlikely to treat you like this. It would have cost you considerably more though.

So Lucid essentially has no warranty... If it breaks you throw it in the garbage and punch yourself in the #### for buying into the latest fad. My list of no-go optics is getting pretty long...

so are the even cheaper vortex dots total crap too?

That sucks. A good company would take it on the chin and send you a new sight.

Problem is, the list of scumbags who would make a false claim in a similar fashion to the OP(not that his claim is in any way false) so as to take advantage of a good company and their customer service is a long one. Without a product to return, there is no warranty claim. That being said, its a $300 retail optic which likely costs about $50 to manufacture. Its no skin off Lucid's behind to send a replacement.

Would it cost the OP more? He's out $300 right now, for an additional $200-400(depending on optic) he could have had an Aimpoint, Trijicon, or even a Burris and not had such issues. This was a $300 learning lesson which didn't need to be taught. How many times do people need to be told that you get what you pay for. Brand names are solid and you won't be disappointed. To solve this will cost the OP a total of $800. So much for saving some bucks with a "entry level/mid range" optic.

I wouldn't run anything from vortex that mounts to a rifle and is intended to accurately place projectiles on target. Their binoculars and minoculars have near zero moving parts and are not essential for hunting/shooting/competing/personal defense, so I'd give them a go. In addition to their questionable quality is the fact they're grossly over priced. For not much more and in many cases equal or less money you could have a known reputable brand name optic.

TDC

I agree on their scopes/RDS but have you used their bino's? I'm considering them but hoping to hear from people with a year or more use out of them. Constantly breaking and replacing is ### even if customer service is great. Maybe I should just pony up for real brands like I did with all my rifle optics...

I admit I have never owned or used their binos for any length of time. I tried a guys binos for the day and played with their lineup at the counter but thats it.

I ordered a lucid a while back, took it out, looked through it, put it back in the box and sent it back. The housing for the led sticks out into the left side when looking through it. Not a round sight picture....more like a D. I was shocked anyone would say anything good about this optic.
Crap.
