Anyone got one? Seems like an interesting cartridge. I've always found the 22 hornet interesting. Be a fun inexpensive round. Gopher shooting would be fun. I bought a 204 a few years ago for gophers/coyotes but I don't think that means I don't need another rifle to do pretty much the same thing. What kind of results on a gopher are guys seeing? Accuracy?

I'm still building mine, but just bought 400rnds from Wholesale. Opted for the Hornady flavour for ease.

Cabelas in saskatoon has a bunch of ammo on the shelf every time I have been there. The only guns so far are the salvage... I mean savage. Suppose to be ruger and cz soon.

I have been in the market for a fox/coyote gun mostly to be used while calling. I was really looking for a short handy bolt action in .222 or .223.

But the .17 hornet also interests me. Then with the .17 Winchester super mag. arriving I have turned my attention to it. I have even looked into when Savages B.MAG rifle will be on the shelves (and flying right off again probably).

I really don't spend much time at the reloading bench these days so buying factory rimfire ammo is kind of attractive to me.

I have one in savage throws little pills with deadly accuracy and I can't hardly wait for the furry little buggers wake up from their long winter nap

I'd be nervous about investing in the .17 Win rimfire myself, seems a little 5mm Rem Mag to this guy, but perhaps it will be successful like the .17 HMR as well. I like the centerfire as the ammo is reasonably priced (I paid less than a buck a round, for VMAX loaded centerfire, that's pretty good). I don't think the Win .17 rimfire will be allll that much cheaper and you're giving up a huge amount of performance. At a hundred yards the .17 Hornet is still faster than the .17 Win Mag rimfire at the muzzle, and it starts with 200 ft-lbs more energy which in a .17 is a lot.

I talked to Wolverine about getting a 527 in 17 hornet, but because it is a CZ-USA rifle, we won't get it here.Probably have to be imported through Prophet River.Pain in the ass bureaucratic bull####.

20gr V-Max (poly tipped hollow point) at an official 3,650fps, most testers are getting just around 3,700fps average mind you. It's offering a lot more than the proposed .17 Win rimfire, and I'm sure will prove more accurate. If those prices for the .17 Win hold though that is a very good deal and "bang for the buck".
