problems with 9mm handloads

Had some problems at the range with my handloaded 9mm in my cz shadow powder is tight groupe 4.1 grns bullet hornady 115grn bullet they were jaming in the barrel and not firing but hitting primer did i not size brass enough had to pull gun apart and use screw driver to pull bullet out that did not fire factory ammo runs fine thanks for any help.:confused:
 
are you applying any crimp to bullet? have you verified with a scale again and again that you are in fact dead on 4.1 grains? sounds like its under loaded
 
crimp your rounds, helps alot also is this your first batch? if it is than you've done it all wrong. you have to start your powder load from Min to Max to c how they perform in your pistol.

so from hodgdon load data you are .2 gr under the MIN
 
That is enough powder to at least get them out of the barrel, it does sound like the crimp. How did you set your crimp die? And what you over all length? I usually just step them in 0.2 grain increment s considering most scales are +/- .1 at the best.

PS dont feel bad I had the exact same problem a while back. (it was the crimp too)
 
Did you set your sizing die properly, I literally just had a similar problem not even an hour ago.. Me being the dummy I am I had my sizing die backed out a bit and it was causing the rounds to stick into the chambering of the pistol.. What a nightmare
 
OP can you explain something here. do your rounds chamber and fire? or you have problem with cambering? also what are you calling a BULLET? the whole cartridge or the actual bullet? cause from what i understand your saying that the actual bullet leaves the case and gets stuck in your barrel.
 
Hum, if a portion of the belling is still present (not sufficient crimp), it would explain the case getting stuck in the chamber. Get a case gauge to size test your rounds. Even better (cheaper too), remove the barrel from your Shadow and use it as case gauge. Your rounds should freely fully chamber and exit.
 
Take your barrel out of your gun, and try to drop rounds in and out of the chamber.

They should fit without much if any pressure.

You will find your rounds do not drop in far enough because the bullet is hitting the rifling too soon, causing what you are experiencing.

Putting your rear sight in the edge of the table and putting some weight on the grip will usually get the slide open in the future.

This is also true.

Your crimping is only a matter of removing any belling left in the case mouth.

Nothing more than a light crimp is necessary IMHO. I have fired a lot of un-crimped rounds from a CZ 75, and a G17 without problems.

Again your barrel drop test will tell you all you need to know.
 
I support the COAL being too long. CZ indeed has much shorter chamber. Soon as you find the exact OAL - where your bullet just kisses the lands of the barrel (rifling), back off 0.005" and you should be G2G.
