Doing some research looking around for a 1911 under $1000, Anyone have any opinions on the R1 Enhanced, this one really caught my attention? Or recommend any others? Seems like the Ruger sr1911 pops up alot, thoughts anyone?

SR1911 is a good choice. I have the Remington R1e (enhanced), out of all it is m'y prefered to bring at the shooting club, extremely accurate at the first mag, very well balanced, easy to clean, works flawless, I will do a trigger job on it, not much I Will do it myself.
I 've took a REM R1s (stainless) in m'y hands, the gun is just wow!, trigger is amazing out of the box, more $$

I'll re-buy the R1e anytime

I checked one out in Kitchener a couple of weeks ago next to a Ruger SR1911. I am a die hard Ruger fan but the R1 Enhanced actually seemed a bit better put together. They are bringing out the stainless version now. It would be a tough choice for me but I think you would be well satisfied with the R1.

A buddy of mine has one and I have used it many times. It was a very pleasant surprise to find how accurante it is as well as a very good feel to it. I have added it to my purchase list.

Here is mine, with handmade grips :

I've got two R1s, but I'm holding out for the R1 Carry model. Hasn't hit the Canuck market yet. It's a compact with all the bells, gongs & whistles.

I have had an R1E for past year. My second handgun, first 1911, very pleased with it now. Needed a breaking period but the gun is flawless and accurate. I paid full price $920 when it first came out, now they are listing for $850 if u can find one. I installed new short trigger, mag well and thin rubber grips. Did a little trigger job and lighten the extended mag release. Easy cheap upgrades. Also just converted it to series 70 with shim from Dlask.

I want the new Carry too Damit! Might sell the R1E and get carry instead when it comes out.

Wrong - R1 Carry has 4-1/4" barrel. Several videos introducing it at the SHOT show.

Also check 'Guns & Ammo' review of same.
