Has anyone seen those YouTube videos of people "bump firing" their SKS using their thumb so the rifle fires like a full auto?

I had never heard or seen that before - it was news to me!

I haven't tried it, and wonder if it is really safe to do as it doesn't look like you get a very good grip or control of the firearm.

With only 5 rounds at a time what is the point to full auto.
Now maybe a rim fire with a 100 round drum would be something.
Either way it just seems like a waste to me.

It is not illegal to bump fire in Canada. It has nothing to do with the mechanical function of the firearm, therefor it is legal.

But with 5 rounds, and many Gun Ranges prohibit rapid firing, it is pretty much banned by default.

Unfortunately it doesn't really matter if its legal or not. After seeing a cop telling someone he was in possession of an unregistered flintlock, it's obvious that new laws can be made up on the spot.

Sigh... What a sad, sad state this country has become. Excuse me while I go puke a few times.

Yes your finger and belt loop would be the prohibited devices ... Watch out they will try and confiscate them too

skip1600 - How does it work exactly? The thumb is used as the trigger finger, but what's with the belt loop? - Is the belt loop just to support the weight of the rifle while firing?

its illegal to bump fire in Canada. its easy to do though.

LOL!!!

Just like how fudd's claim illegal to rapid fire? Or shooting your shotgun with one hand makes it a "handgun" and therefore illegal? Bump firing is YOU and only YOU shooting the gun in a way that allows it fire very fast but its still ONLY semi auto!!!. There is no extra mechanical piece put onto the gun

The down side to bump firing is that you need to do it from the hip (usually) and there for your aim is #### lol...its fun (just be safe!!!) but pointless...especially with only 5 rounds...

Please stop spreading false LAWS and BS!!!

Yes.. Also you can unlatch the bottom of the mag and jam 10rds into the legally pinned mag.. As it shoots it closes.. Again then both your hands are prohibited devices .. Make no mistake it IS illegal in the letter of the law, as stupid as it is. It's already been proven that devices that allow the trigger to be operated in rapid succession with the use of the guns recoil are prohibited.. Call me a FUDD .. I'm far from it. Just a realist

That's interesting - I had no idea that it could be considered illegal.

Ill be honest it'd be a stretch to make that stick but according to the way I read it.. And with past standards I have no doubt of them trying it.. Bump fire away but I will be the first to say atoadaso

Maybe a person could claim it was an accidental slam fire (damn those floating firing pins), but I don't need the hassle.
