^I had an M-10 Ross sporter that could shoot through the hole of a lifesaver at 100 m (not really but close). I got the idea of 'refurbishing' the stock - it was a bit dried out & the forend was kinda slim & cracked.
figured it was already bubba'd so I stripped it with that harsh poly strippa gel. (ugh - not very nice stuff). It did a good job of getting rid of the finish, but was very dry & furry after that.
I ended up selling it to a gentleman in BC who refinished the stock nicely & was well pleased with the way the rifle shot & having a fixer upper to challenge him.
If I did it over again, I would have used the Circa 1896 stuff to strip, fixed cracks, maybe bed the action, put on some suitable stain, then would have put on multiple coats of tung oil.
