**OFFICAL*** The Type 97NSR is Non restricted!!!

So why is Canada Ammo still listing for $849 while Frontier is $1000? Whats it gonna actually be? And who else is taking pre-orders?

Thats what it was when we ordered it, then the stoped the shipment and reclassified it....

could be the same ol price for the same old prohibited one

???

Everybody else is listing it for $1000. AFAIK (could be wrong) only North Sylva is importing a type 97 variant. Not sure what CanAm's play on this is - whether they're making a statement, everybody else is charging insane markups or what.. Your best bet would be to ask Chris, but he might be tight-lipped until the boat lands. In general, the distributor won't be able to tell you why one retailer is charging more than other retailers ;)

Maybe it is just a thank you to those who continued to support them until a non-restricted version arrived. A seller with loyalty to its customer base? Go figure.

If they sell the non-restricted for whatever they sell it for, that is up to them.

I for one am not questioning why they are $150 cheaper than everyone else with free shipping. I placed my order months ago and I'm just happy that we have great vendors like Can-Am and the many others here who bring us great deals.

I assume those that are worried about the safety are part of the "action shooting" community.
I was taught at an early age not to trust a safety, I don't even use one, ever. Muzzle control. Trigger control.

WHY DOES THE SAFETY POSITION MATTER?!

WHY DO YOU EVEN NEED A SAFETY? This is not a pistol your carrying "cocked and locked" due to a light trigger.

Proper muzzle and trigger control trumps all and is 100% safe.... anyone who is DUMB enough to rely on a mechanical safety should never be allowed to touch a gun, let alone own them!!!

You can walk around with the gun loaded just fine...follow the 2 golden rules and all is well. Its also MUCH faster then flipping off a safety ...if you even remember to flip it off before your first shot (many do not). If that is too scary for you then carry the gun with a loaded magazine and an empty chamber and just quickly rack in a round in when your ready to take aim.

I remove many safeties off my rifles as I find them useless and even more so provide a FALSE sense of "safety". They CAN be dangerous...how many people have be shot because "I thought the safety was on"?

Safeties and nothing more then the work of lawyers helping gun manufacturers cover this asses...just the like warning labels scribed into the gun...the days of guns that can fire when dropped if cocked and/or loaded is pretty much long over.

None of you are assassins who cannot make any noise racking the gun or going into combat with a group that requires use of a external safety so why does it matter anyways?

These guys get it. I never use a safety or teach people to use it. You become complacent using them.

i dont understand why in this day and age they dont make these guns eject out either side or the bottom?
your cutting off 1/3 of you customer base with the bullpup configuration because left handed shooters dont wannt have to pull brass out of their teeth when they shoot.
how hard would it be to have an ejection port door on both sided and a switch to flick to pick left or right?
or better yet dump the brass out the bottom!
they put the charging handle on top so you can cycle it left or right handed.

just frustrated that i cant shoot one.
would duct tape and a gym sock look nasty on it?

I'm a southpaw, and plan on getting one. By now you should be used to a world with the controls on the wrong side of everything.

No they don't get it. Sloppy firearm manipulations lead to carelessness. I always use a safety while also keeping my finger off the trigger and firearm in a safe direction. Especially with a semi auto.

It's there and if the ergonomics are good using the safety is part of so called muscle memory. Plus some on here do use firearms for work. Any such shoddy/sloppy handling will get you in deep crap. Any accidental discharges even more so.

In some communist countries, lefties were taught to be righties from an early age. It's possible that they teach lefties to shoot right-handed. We're still speculating on the safety position. I find it a small sacrifice if it's the way it originally was and would find that if they fixed the design, it would be a nice bonus. We'll find out either way soon enough.

Please tell me how proper trigger and muzzle control is sloppy...I will NEVER use the safety...and I do not handle rifles "shoddy/sloppy".

IF I chose to use the safety...I would not try to do it in lighting speed...I'd still keep my finger off the trigger and it pointed in a safe direction...

thanks for the vote of confidence tho bud!!!

I used firearms for work, 2 different jobs in the past and either I chose not to use the safety or the gun did not have one.

Who is gonna be using a Norinco T-97NSR for "work"?

From what I have heard/read with the original T-97...brass ejected will still clear a left handed shooter...use of a deflector will greatly help in this too.

Dear North Sylva,
I have had a deposit with Canam for quite some time for a type 97. Do they have any orders with you for the Type 97 nsr? Should I be asking for my money back?

Ummmm...anyone know why CAN AM is currently refering to the rifle they have previously listed as the Type 97NSR as a Dominion Arms T97NRR?????

Please inform me how being safe and smart with my firearms handling...has ANYTHING to do with being a poser? IF YOU RELY ON A MECHINAL SAFETY OVER PROPER HANDLING AND COMMON SENSE...IT WILL FAIL YOU ONE DAY!!!

THE ONLY SAFETY IS THE ONE BETWEEN YOUR EARS...sadly most do not have this.
