Persian Mauser Pictures up now, but still would like to know what it is worth ???????

Very beautiful. I have also been looking for a 29 for a while, to go with my M 49 carbine. No luck so far finding one in Canada. I may have to get Profit River's help to import one from the States.

If this rifle's bluing and wood are original, I would price it at around $1200, even fired.

Beautiful rifle!!!!!

The stock has a very high gloss, is it a varnish???

Reason I ask is that I went through a phase of collecting Middle Eastern firearms. I kept a long Persian exactly like that with a gloss finish, along with a CZECH Persian contract "Camel Carbine" and a Persian CZECH contract VZ24. No idea of their value these days, but curious about the stock finish.

Thank you all for your kind comments, yes it's a beautiful rifle and it shoots at least as well as it looks... :)

The stock finish is original to all Persian Mausers, it is very well done, like a custom rifle finish.

I am not sure about it's value. I acquired it in a trade, together with a Peruvian 1909 Mauser (with correct bayonet), and i paid/traded for around $1400.00.

Just wanted to know if I did OK.

I will put up pictures of the Peruvian 1909 by the end of this week, at the moment it is completely disassembled for cleaning and oiling.

A Persian and a Peruvian 1909. Along with the 1935 Brazilian, the most exquisite military Mausers ever made. Your new acquisitions are virtually impossible to find in collector grade condition in Canada at any price. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to go throw up now...

It has been quite a few years since I actively collected military mausers but when I did the Persians in mint condition were selling for more like $1100 then while a mint 1908 brazillian was going for $6-700. The mint 1935's were around $750-900. Point being the Persians should be at least $1500 these days.

Mauser M1898/29 Persia rifle 7.92x57 CZ Brno CZE 85-150(Poor) 145-235(Fair) 230-340(Good) 310-480(VG) 470-625(Excellent) 620-750(Unissued)

Utterly meaningless.........
What's really meaningless is when people pull fictional high ball figures out of the hat and sky based on coulda been and shoulda been this or that, or I'd pay that ridiculous price, just like on this forum! Just look at the stupid money some people are throwing at a Reparkerized Garand with a Boyds Stock! That $100 Boyds stock adds $1400 to the price along with the backyard bathtub Parkerizing job! LOL (No Brains or Common Sense)

At least this averages all sales and auctions of what an item sells for. If any of you want to pay $150,000 for a $600 Luger because it is pretty and your emotions get in the way and tell you to, go right ahead! LOL

Overview:
The pricing information that we capture is (largely) for military firearms. Prices are in USD. NRA Antique ratings are used for antique guns, NRA Modern ratings are used for post-1898 guns. Use this data as a guide only, there are no guaranties for the accuracy of the information.

Usage:
Choose a group from the dropdown list, or enter a search string to the right. A partial search string such as [1943] or [Arisaka] will return all firearms with that text as part of the name. Picking an entry from the dropdown will clear the contents of the text search box, so they do not conflict.

For best results when searching these prices; use the full name of the country, like 'France' rather than 'French', and use the full model year, like 'M1903' rather than 'M03'.

Comments will be shown with an icon. If you hold your cursor over the icon, the associated text will be displayed. Full members may submit new entries via the supplied button.

Prevalence Terminology:
COMMON - Widely available or was recently available from importers, wholesalers. Prices shown are greatly influenced by the importers'/wholesalers' prices. Individual/retail sales have a very small infulence in the prices shown.

FAIRLY COMMON - Still available, but the buyer has to search for these. Fairly recent imports which mostly dried up from the importers, maybe found in smaller quantities at a few dealers. Prices will be higher than original importers' prices. There may also be a small quantity imported by independent importers.

RARE - Hard to find items, but still available, mostly older imports, and a few rare variations of more recent imports. Expect to pay higher prices. Prices shown are influenced by individual sales.

VERY RARE - Extremely hard to find items, you will need lots of "luck" to find and be ready to pay premium price. You can find these from collectors and high-end dealers. Prices shown are greatly influenced by individual sales and value research.

NEVER SEEN - Extremely rare items. There are no reported sales. Prices shown are based on unverifiable information from various sources. Do your own research and appraisal before you invest in one of these.

NOTES:
The prices shown are "Collectors' Prices", meaning that you would expect one collector to sell a gun to another collector within the price range shown. A dealer would be expected to pay the low end of the range or possibly less. Also a dealer would be expected to sell at the high end of the price range, possibly more if the particular gun is very rare and in pristine condition. Some reputable dealers may underrate their guns (for customer satisfaction), which may also justify higher prices than what is shown in this database. Auction sale prices can easily be much higher or much lower. The value of accessories (such as bayonets, slings, holsters, extra mags, ammo, etc.) should be added to the price. A sporterized gun should not be valued higher than a fair condition gun. A refinished gun should not be valued higher than a good condition gun. Watch for fakes, faked markings, mis-identifying labels. Don't forget, there will always be good deals, you just have to find them. Good luck.

If polaris was so stupid (but he's not, just saying) that he listed that gun on CGN at $750 (the highest end "Book Value"), it would sell within two minutes.

If polaris was simply "not too bright" and listed it at $1000, it would sell within 10 minutes.

If polaris wanted a quick sale, and listed it at $1200, an evening would suffice.

If polaris was patient and listed it at $1500, it might sell within two weeks.

Most who posted here get that.

You must be a school teacher preaching it's OK to pay 20 Times the Retail Price!

Johnson M1941 rifle .30-06/7mm 10rd USA USA 400-800 800-1600 1450-2500 2300-3500 3200-5000 4200-7000 Very Rare

Now according to Andy, if the book is so wrong and utterly meaningless, Andy is saying pay 3 Times more than book value, are you going to pay $21,000 for a Johnson?

Snap out of it.

it is quite saddening, that some guys are always finding a reason to fight and argue.

However here is a message to "Coyote Ugly": If you evaluate this rifle (Persian Mauser 98/29) at $620.00 -$750.00, (according to your book),
I publicly declare, that I will buy every rifle (in the described condition as mine, unfired, unissued with matching bayonet) not for $620, but for $750.00 FROM YOU!
