So last night I picked up my m305 shorty, and since this was my second m305 I knew it was going to be a long night removing off all that oil. Them chinese really know how to preserve a rifle...

Anyways, after wiping down all that oil I can no longer be called butter fingers when shouldering the rifle. Quite a beauty she is, I think I much prefer the the 18.5" barrel over the 22", that's just me.

So I wanted to give it a nice cleaning and putting my own liquids on it (oil, grease, whatever.) So I stripped down the rifle and lo and behold....a crack....a pretty serious crack I might add. This crack goes right along the gas cylinder, and it's quite alarming because it's the gas cyclinder. If I were to shoot it, it could potentially blow up in my hand. Thank goodness that I didn't over look it. At the same time I was pretty upset because I just degreased the rifle, and the store I bought it from is an hour away... well here are some pics. Hopefully when I send it in for warranty they just give me a new one.

Where did u get it from? And are they willing to do a return?

I got it from Al Flaherty's in Toronto. A great store, I can't say anything negative about them. I called them today and they said just to bring it in and they will sort something out. I had an issue with my cz 858 last year (the gremlin) and I brought it in for warranty and I received it back the next week. So it will probably be like that with this gun.

To the op; welcome to the I spent $1500 to make my $450 work properly club

Not to derail the thread (the OP certainly has a concern that needs addressed); but what happened to yours?

I bought the rifle ($450), bashed off the flash hider, rebuilt my rear sight (no parts), shimmed the gas system ($5.00??), got a hobby friend to utinize the gas system (he drank one of my micro beers - $4.00??) and installed a proper spring guide ($50??)... so I was getting nice groups off the sled with reloads (1.2" - 1.5") at 100 yards for about $509.00.

Luckily, I haven't spent $1500 to get mine to work or had anything come damaged...

first one exploded.

second one, sear failed, rear site aperture was junk, barrel off indexed, and developed head space issue within 200 rounds. flish hider was a write off after removing it to shim the gas system that required an entire pack of shims to tighten up. new barrel and bolt are inbound not much norinco left after those go on.

You seem to have a little black cloud over you. Mine is a new one, my flash hider came off no problem or damage, my barrel was properly indexed, to tighten the gas cylinder all I need to do was flip the lock over and headspace measured fine for a semi auto. I guess the grade one class that built mine must be from a vocational school they did well. I did replace my spring and guide and did put a new flash hider on it I like how the real ones ring. Out of a group of fifteen people either by trading the lock for the cylinder or just flipping it only one had to put two shims on I think.
