Finally after a nail biting few weeks my birthday present has finally arrive. My Valmet M78 7.62x39 and this deserves to be in the Red Rifle section NOT the Black Rifle section

All cleaned and prettied up for her photo shoot, she smiles at the camera. P.S (i am a terrible photographer).

Ive got a Romanian drum mag, 2x 5/40 and 2x 5/30 round mags ready to get her on her way.

Might I add I replaced the plastic foregrip with an original Valmet laminated wood foregrip (big up to Vic!!!!!!!!)

M78 with Drum mag (right side)

Left side

5/30 mag

5/40 mag

Good for you. At least you get to shoot yours. My Ak47 converted auto has to sit in a safe. Same type of gun. Yours is non restricted and mine is prohibited. Go figure

looks good with the drum and 40's! Glad you like it!

Forgot to tell ya that when I took it all apart to clean it, it was barely dirty inside. Maybe someone cleaned it but there was still some cosmo so I dont think it was used really.
Just sooooooo stoked to take this out and blast it off.

Thanks again gutinater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the guy that owned said before you said he had it from new with 600 rounds down the pipe the entire time he had it since the 80's. I think the wood looks better but keep the plastic somewhere so you can bring it back to original if you ever sell it. And I know people will say it doesnt matter as long as you clean it good but theres no way I would shoot corrosive ammo in such a rare and expensive gun.

I will never put any corrosive thru it. All clean non corrosive ammo for this beauty queen.

Yes i love the logic of our laws, says valmet is a true ak47 and non restricted yet say a semi auto soviet rpk would be prohib same action same configuration but prohib. Im actually positive they prohib guns by looks alone mostly. The type 97 uses a similar bolt ( rotating short stroke piston) and is not an ak varient even tho it operates similar in a sense, clearly cosmetic features make ak varients
