Coyote control in urban areas.

Coyotes are pretty pansy though, you should be able to quickly dart out at one from behind a tree and sucker punch it right in the temple. A good punch in the head will learn him a lesson.

No disrespect meant as to your understanding about how nature works. Just a general comment on the situation. Being a fellow pet owner I know where you are coming from. My post are sometimes pretty cryptic and can give the wrong impression.

Oh - I never thought it was disrespectful at all :)

Thankfully I live where I can shoot all day long every day. Yotes and wolves are thick here too even though I peg many a year. Neighbor keeps losing calves to them so now I am stepping up the predator hunting a notch.

So far I like the SSS approach the best, not that I would ever endorse or advise breaking the law, I just like the SSS approach much better than dealing with beaurocrats, PETards and idiotic liberal laws.

Bow and arrow?

Crossbow has crossed my mind.

I've seen coyotes in South Surrey too.

We have 2 big dogs so they seem to leave our place alone.

Unfortunately they keep getting closer and closer despite the amount of dogs in the area.

must have 20 or so living close to me by the noise they make when howling, corner store has a wall full of missing pet posters....

Yeah - sounds to me like there is a good 15-20 by me in the greenbelt. Their range is ~20km, so they come and go.

I like the idea of SSS - I am not keen on breaking the law, but do I want to be the one to say "I told you to do something" after something bad happens? I wish I was able to shoot freely where I am at.

IDK what your bylaws are but if bows can be shot you should be able to hunt within city limits that's what I do there is plenty of farmland within the city of Windsor I hunt them on a farm my where my uncle used to live

"...go by Wikipedia's..." It'll be wrong.
There's nothing you can do about Wiley being in town. He's moved into downtown Toronto as well. The media thinks it's cute.

So, you live in an urban environment and are "pissed" because one or more of your unsupervised or contained pets has gone missing?? And then you make that plaintiff call we have all heard before, " But we must save the children" !! lol

Hey bud, thanks for answering my actual question. Your commentary added *so* much to the conversation.

*rolls eyes*

City of Surrey animal control is of no use, as is the SPCA. They referred us to a company that deals with co-existence with coyotes. The greenbelt that is part of their hunting grounds are right next to an elementary school.

Same issue here with foxes, 6 cats that I know of have gone missing. We also contacted the C.O. and was told "they arent harming people" when I asked about all the pets getting hurt I was told "this is a risk of living in a wilderness area" uh.. in the middle of a city with 90,000 people?. One witness seen a fox packing a cat though the school yard!! The mother fox beat up my golden lab and has corned the black lab across the street multiple times. They go to the school at lunch and recess looking for handouts. I suggest doing what I did. Walk the wooded area and look for dens. To see if the den is active place a small twig over the opening. If its moves.. bam you know where to set a snare.

This - this is great advice. Thanks for that. I'll do just that, as I am pretty sure I know where they have their den.

so a little fox beat a lab really. personally to all the people saying keep your cats in the house well its not always that easy they are small and fast if they want to they will get out I have 3 cats all don't want to go out but the cats I had in the past did

If you let your cats outside there is no one to blame but yourself. There are coyotes known to be in my area and I make sure my cats stay inside. Haven't had a problem yet with a coyote coming inside my house to eat my cats.

I sh*t you not. I didnt believe the phone call untill I seen pictures. A family of 4 are ganging up on the larger pets. Acting like a pack. It wasn't like he was hurt within an inch of his life, but he did get a few stitches. We weren't home so a concerned passer by called the spca, who infact did the medical aid.

Even if there were no Coyotes, why do you let your pets roam?
