Will storing the magazines full of rounds for long periods of time damage the magazine in any way (such as wearing out the spring or anything)

Thanks!

So, elephant in the room...

How are you supposed to be prepared for an emergency situation such as a break-in etc.
Also, I haven't had time to look up the self-defence laws in Canada, could somebody sum them up for me?

Thanks again!

your mag springs will not wear out from being stored loaded, they wear out from being cycled or over-stretched. What might happen is the constant pressure may start to bend your feed lips, but I really haven't seen any confirmed reports of that happening. so long story short, there's no problem storing loaded mags, particularly if you use something like Pmags which have a feed lip protector.

I've read, and lots say this about springs, whether stored compressed OR with tension relieved will NOT fatigue the spring. repeated compression cylces WILL fatigue the spring.
I suggest simply reading up on spring life, rather then "what happens if I store mags full" same reason some people de-#### their firearms for storage and some don't.

you can have a loaded mag sitting beside your gun but it cant be touching it in any way

Actually, there's nothing in the regs about them touching. If a round cannot be chambered by cycling the action the firearm is not loaded. The real issue is the "easy access to ammunition" part, which has nothing to do with them touching, just being close to each other, but that doesn't apply if they are locked in a safe or gun case.

Haha. E you serious.? maybe im missing sarcasm.

If its not.

your not allowed to defend yourself in this country under any circumstances. call the cops and get into the fetal position.

O CANADA!

Yes, I know that Canada is really ridiculous when it comes to basic human rights, but I was hoping that there was at least some type of notion of self-defense for citizens somewhere in our laws.

The current legal status of self-defense in Canada is that you can only do it with whatever you happen to have at hand, anything else will result in charges laid. If you want to prepare in case you ever have to defend yourself, you're instantly considered a "dangerous nutjob". Furthermore, since the CFC does not deem self-defense to be a valid reason to own a restricted firearm, if you have one obviously set up for self-defense, they'll nail you for lying on a federal form.

Stripper clips! I can load half a clip is the same time it takes to install a mag.

Note for an FYI he was acquitted...but was stuck and continues to pay off his legal debts. Please help him do so

Did they at least give him back his firearms.

That's true, what types of handguns use stripper clips?

I thought so too. Until I saw this.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/01/20/man-faces-jail-after-protecting-home-from-masked-attackers/

A man uses a handgun to scare off masked attackers throwing Molotov's at his house, and he's the one facing jailtime..

Unbelievable, we really need to rise up and demand our rights, and while were at it, demand conceal and carry.

"...Yes...spring will lose ..." Nonsense. Springs do not lose temper from being compressed.
"...cant(SIC) be touching..." There's nothing in the law that says a mag can't be touching a firearms. That's idiotic. A loaded mag cannot be in a firearm though.
"...How are you supposed to..." Don't look for what the law says you can do. They don't do that. They only tell you what you cannot do. For example, you cannot have a loaded firearm or one that is not locked up.
