Gold plated sks and other Russian rifles?

Hi Everyone, I am the one that plates the rifles, it you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. I have plated things for people, and the shop is dependable plating in Burnaby. They do a great job but the owner doesn't want to plate guns because sometimes it doesn't end well because the plating adds thickness and the parts sometimes don't fit back together, so for that reason he doesn't want to get involved. He will do it as long as you take the gun apart and you have to tell him what parts you want plated. Therefore, you are responsible for putting it back together. You have to know your gun really well because there are some parts the can't get plated because it will increase the thickness and won't fit back together. I have plated sks's and svt-40's so I can help anyone with that. I go there on my day's off and work part-time. I will be plating some sks's and posting them. Thanks

If you are going to plate the gun for looks, I would suggest leaving a lot of the bits in black for contrast. All chrome tends to wash out the lines I did that with a beater 22 once and left the bits other than barrel and receiver black.

Plating will last longer than paint... That's why it has been used for so long.

I'm not planning on gold plating it, I would like it hard chromed... But just because you think it's "### as ####" I might have it gold plated with your user name laser engraved in the stock.

Ha ha ha, that's funny! What is a boat gun for? Seal hunting? You could be like those irratating gator hunters, shoot em shoot em. Watch those seals they bite.

After its gold plated take it to the range to test fire it. Now you have a problem. What to wear to the range. Go ### or gangsta, grow a cheesy 70's mustache, pink shorts, muscle shirt showing of your gut or add gold chains and wear your jeans low. Actually not much difference in clothing between ### and gangsta. Or combined both ### gangsta. But seriously I don't think it will look ###.

These guys are just jealous.

Hi, Just to clarify, the owner does not have a firearms license yet, so if you want to get a firearm plated you will have to contact me and I will have to be at the shop for that process to take place. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks

I would change this stock and the gas tube cover.. but this is a sweet sks.

I use my boat guns for plinking and QCI deer... Yes, seals do bite.

Many guys work on or around the water. Many of us carry/use/keep guns on the boat when we do.

Rough cost to do a shotgun barrel/receiver?

I just polished mine. 400 wet emery cloth, black stone, brown, white, blue, then finish it of with the red stone. Takes all day, but its durable and FREE.

...but according to his info no-one would know what that user name stood for unless you visited Toronto? :-D
