I just received 2 steel crates of 223 (well, 5.56 855 ball; military). All rounds are stuck in 10 rd clips. Do I toss them or save and give? Not even sure why they come on this clip. I can't just insert it into my Tavor, now can I?

The rounds come on a stripper clips for speed of reloading your magazines. Some magazines have a magazine charger which you place on top of the magazine. the 10 rd clip inserts into the charger. you then press down on the top round and bang you have loaded 10 quick rounds. you can still load 5 rounds the same way as we all know 30 rd mags are prohibited her in our wonderful country. with the FN C1 the 20 rd mags had ametal charger and there was also a charger on the body cover which loaded the same way. The US 5.56 mag for the m-16 familly has a metal charger. The canadian charger for 5.56 ia made of plastic and i think superior to the US metal one.

Just more useless info you may not need

Thanks for the info! I'll keep them and announce when I have the 40+ clips to send to someone. (Such as CDM123)

There was likely a magazine charger in each case. Put it on top of your mag, slide a full stripper in and push the rounds into the mag. Very useful.

I'll answer a few questions at once:
5.56 XM855LC1 AC-1
5.56 x 45
62 gr FMJ Ball
420 rds on stripper clips.

FWIW, 100 rds fired (with a break for cooling), zero failures in the TAR-21.

Bought from Elwood Epps, sent to me within 2 days (cost 246$/420 rds) in green metal ammo crates. (see their post in the dealer forums).

And, as it turns out, there is a metal thing in the crate, I guess I'll call it a charger. It's awkward but I can see how it fits over the Lar15 and XCR223 pistol mags, and how the stripper feeds into it. Doesn't seem very fast but hey, I'm a complete nincompoop.

I'm happy giving them away, as I did similarly today, leaving 100 brass empties of 223 at the range with a note saying "finders keepers" at the range.

Throw them at strippers, hello? They are called stripper clips for a reason. instead of throwing money you get them and chuck it at them. And then when the bouncer comes to you tell them, ztunelover sent you. He will ask who, repeat my username and while he looks confused you need to start running for your life, because my username really doesnt have any weight at any strip club.
