I have to send a Crossfire 2 in tomorrow. The reticle rotated.
Website says 4-6 weeks.
Sucks as I bought the scope in August.

Yeah i know it's the bottom of the barrel Vortex, i think with taxes it was $230.

But i want to go Smack some gophers with this 22 WMR
So how long am i going to wait?

Seems not as bad as I was expecting.
hopefully my Viper(non-pst) won't shart the bed too.
I do have a email out regarding some Sightron glass, so we'll see how that goes.

Well just a update. I sent the scope back on the 25th of May, and I got a replacement on the 13th of June. 19 days, seems pretty good considering.

I'm pretty sure we sell the most Vortex scopes in Ontario. Of the close to $200k in Vortex optics we sold last year less than 10 came back to us and of those we replaced all over the counter except for a couple we asked people to send to Vortex as they were closer the warranty centre or we didn't have a replacement in stock. I would hardly say they make crap optics. The only ones that did seem to have some issues were the original Crossfire model with illuminated reticle....they made of most of the ones that came back....flecks of the reticle were stuck to the lense????....little black spots appeared when fired from high powered rifles.

I'm pretty sure consumers can deal directly with Vortex for warranty,no? I did.

I'm not saying they're complete junk, but there do seem to be an abnormal amount of threads that pop up on here about owners needing service. That's not necessarily indicative of anything, but on the other hand I don't think every person with an issue is starting a thread.

I have a Viper 3-9x40 which I like very much. It's on a .22 so I can't really speak about how rugged it is but it's optically comparable to a Leupold VX3 or Zeiss Conquest, to my eyes.
I had a Viper HS 4-16LR which I hated. Comparing the two was like the difference between a Conquest and NC Star. I sent it in for service as it would get extremely blurry at anything over 10x. It came back within a few weeks, but the issue was still there. I sold it at a major loss ($900 new WSS, $450 on EE). I've heard others report the same about the HS series.

No offence to any dealers selling these, but I agree they are grossly overpriced, and Vortex only seems to care about how much they can mark up their scopes based on name recognition. $400 for a bland Chinese scope? $1000 for made in Philippines?
I don't think the people buying these even understand how/where they are made and what truely they are comparable to.
The bottom will fall out of that bubble soon enough if Vortex doesn't get their price in line with the junk they are selling, or improve the quality to where the price can be justified.
I'm still in shock that people fork out that kind of cash when they could be getting so much better product.

For what they charge. They're complete crap. I want a solid warranty as insurance not so I can use it every year.

Exactly!

I want to pay for a quality optic, not a warranty. Could you imagine being on a Yukon hunt of a lifetime that you paid thousand of dollars for and your scope craps out on you half way though day 2. I wouldn't buy a Vortex to shoot gophers!
