Todays mistake...I'm damn lucky

I went to the range this afternoon. Using my Para-Ord CCW i started putting some lead down range. I was using 8rd mags and I noticed that a couple of rounds "felt" different until the slide went forward on the 8th round and to my surprise the entire round slid through the barrel and dropped out onto the table....hmmm seems a 40S&W made its way into the stack of the mag.... until of course I picked up the brass.... seems there were a few 40's in the magazine. I was surprised they functioned at all and thankful that they didn't blow up my gun and my hand.........

ouch. I use a lot of .45 and among the many reasons I'll never get a .40 is the similarity between the two calibres and that kind of mistake. I'm glad it wasn't more serious, Stay safe.

You noticed a difference & you just kept shooting till a complete round dropped out of the barrel ???

I am totally to blame for this one....I was teaching the kids to load mags...I use 45 ACP for that as the rounds are big and the mag spring is easy to push..this makes it easy for little hands to manipulate. Yes. I noticed a couple rounds felt different, almost SNAPPY...(NO ####Z eh) at the time I chalked it up to perhaps a different load.

the gun I have pulled apart. The slide looks good and I credit the stainless steel gun and it being a para for holding together. I'm not even going to risk using the barrel again...I'm just going to replace it.

1911 .45 mags work really well with .40 ammo in a .40 cal 1911...I only have one .40 mag for my .40 1911, rest are all .45.
Glad you and the kiddies are ok...
Barrel should be fine, pressure would be much lower then in a .40 barrel with a tight seal.
