I just posted a video challenge for those that think the recoil of a Mosin Nagant is easy to absorb. Of course it is standing or sitting at a bench but shooting on the ground in the prone postions? Do people still do that?

Here is the challenge please join in if your interested.

I don't have video but I used a mosin for my last ora vintage rifle shoot. That involves roughly 100rnd, 1/3 standing & the rest prone. Honestly, The k98 I used previously was worse, esp with 218grn loads I was using.

What about Mosin PU/PE Snipers? Or would a guy just use the iron sights under the scope/ remove the PU via the quick detach screw?

How about an M44? Or are we just talking straight normal 91/30's?

I just shoot it standing up did 200 rounds a few weekends ago with 30 12ga slugs. The slugs were painful the moss was nice to shoot. Once you get used to heavy shotgun loads the rest don't feel so bad..

I shot most of 100rds out of my Mosin PU today, 100 out of my No4(T) and 20 out of my Ross MkI* without a shirt on, prone. Its all about hold. Don't hold properly and it'll sting, hold properly and you can shoot all day long. Watch your follow through like a hawk and it lessens the sting even more. My pointless .02 worth.

I can't say that I'm excited to do it, but I may have to give this a go.
I havn't shot my mosin in a bit and this might be a perfect excuse to do so.
