Is this ammo becoming more rare? S&B 1200 crate.

So I'm at an in pass...

I find myself with money in hand for one of two items. The tipping point comes down to long term availability of one of the items.

Item in question is S&B 1200 round crates of 7.62x39 ammo, specifically the crates that are sealed into battle packs.

https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/czech-7-62x39-surplus-ammo-1200rd-crate/

The reason I want that exact ammo is for my long term ammo, I'm only just starting and these sealed packs are perfect for my objectives.

Question is, does anyone know if supply is running low on this exact packaged crate of ammo?

I know I can store other brands, this version is just ideal for me.

I SHOULD spend my money on something other than ammo, that's why I'm curious what the future holds for this style crate of ammo.

Anyone in "the know" help me out with some details?

Thanks all. :)

Buy the ammo, and you won't stress out about "I shoulda bought the ammo".

...we all know you are going to buy ammo anyway, might as well do it now.

It's a good price and it's good ammo.

"Long term availability" is never ensured with any sort of surplus. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

I bought a case of this Ammo five years ago and never saw it again until I logged onto
this site and it popped up all of a sudden. I searched everywere in Ontario for it without
success with the exception of buying a case of it from one of your members in Milton
Ontario, 3 hours driving with traffic.

I've been buying Chinese ever since my first case ran out and it works fine but the
Czech stuff is something of beauty. Craft Brewery vs Molsen, Budweiser.

Buy a pizza from Pizza Pizza and then drive over to Little Italy and buy a pizza from
them the difference is day and night, I'm sure the quality of ingredients plays a role here,
plus the Italians have more experience with Pizza than other cultures.

When you see the care and craftmanship that has been put into the Czech ammo you
wont want to use it. The Chinese and Romanian look like they were packaged by
a handicapped five year old, plus the green ooze emanating from the Chinese cans
looks radioactive.

I cant speak for the Russian ammo, but I plan to get some, based on the pictures
i can see there is no radioactive green sludge comming out of these sardine cans,
I could clearly see this when Glockster42 opened his sardine can but low and behold
there is no were in Ontario were you can buy this stuff which is ridiculous.

Just bought a case of this myself, from Budgetshootersupply same price and free shipping.

Its my understanding that these shipments come in waves.

"Buy it cheap and stack it deep." seems like good advice. I may get another case.... or two. hehe

Its newer than most surplus too, 1990's vintage so good to store for decades! Stripper clips are a bonus too if you have an sks! Canam was the cheapest for me!

i have 4 cases and want more. the plastic packs will keep this ammo fresh for a very long time yet. $225 free shipping is a damn good deal....and it comes with all the stripper clips you could ever want! buy now or you will regret it later when the price is up.

the only problem i have with this ammo is that its wickedly corrosive..just take one look into my vz58 muzzle brake...yuk

Regardless of make, a crate of 1200 rounds is only good for 3 or 4 trips to the gravel pit. Figure out how many crates you need if you go shooting 2 dozen times per year.

Wolverine Supplies used to have it. I took a crate, then re-package it in 2 ammo can. I lost a layer of sealing, but it's fitting great. The ammo can is air tight as well[0].

[0]: when you buy them new, they are actually pressurized. you hear the pressure being released (then smell it) when opening it.

How come I bought some ammo sealed in plastic like that with the same paper slip on top and its non corrosive? It's dirty... But not corrosive

Buy it right now.

I sold all mine a while back to buy as much Norinco NC from CanAm as possible when it was $299 a crate (!) but that battle pack packaging is calling me back!

I'll be buying plenty more of this. Anyone remember when Lever was selling them for $150 if you bought an SKS?

Go to Canadian Tire and buy a few cans of brake cleaner or Rem Clean plus a couple cans of Gun Oil, Remington or Hopps.

Hose the gun down with brake cleaner and then drench it with gun oil, allow it to sit covered with oil for 10
minutes or so and then wipe off excess oil and your done. I do scrub the bore and I'm generous with oiling the barrel
and gass/piston assembly. (the brake cleaner removes all the dirt/corrosive stuff in seconds) In the past I used those
all in one gun cleaners and my bolt group never got totally clean.

This is quick and very effective.

(Some people advocate using water, when you mix salt with water the salt comes alive and
and becomes very destructive)

How do you know it is NC?

Since I don't clean my guns unless I have too... So I know what it looks like when you shoot corrosive and don't clean it for a couple weeks... Or months...

And the ammo I bought that looks just like that isn't corrosive

Edit... I don't clean my cheap, old, surplus guns... Unless I have too
