I've seen a couple of SL8 G36 clones in the EE recently going for 6-8k.
Yet I also see people selling them for <3k, the usual price I've always seen before.

What gives? Is there something about the 6-8k ones that add value compared to the 3k ones, or Is it just another EE thing?

I'm not interested in ranting about the EE, I genuinely want to know if there are technical/physical differences that make one worth more than the other.

Thanks nutters.

It depends what you're calling a clone.
Some are nothing more than a chopped sl8 barrel with a stock adapter. Length of pull is usually overly long on those.
Those are cheap, relatively.
Ones with a genuine barrel assembly and a cut and fused receiver, to achieve the proper g36 dimensions, are pricey.

This is the truth of the price difference. Seen one on there recently with the mods done right in the +$7K range if memory serves (with a note saying if you request pictures and don't make a deal negative feedback will be left, but that's a different topic for another thread). If you were to part it yourself and see what the build adds up to you'd soon see that the seller might be losing money at that price.

Basically it comes down to genuine kit costs big and is difficult to source.

I saw that too. I flagged it requesting clarification from a mod if that kind of BS was permitted. I personally think if there's no picture then you can't post an add.

Wtf? Negative feedback for wanting pics and not making a deal? Where is this ad? That pinhead should get negative feedback for even making such ridiculous demands.

There are a few adds in EE that have something to that effect.

I call them...... items I would have bought at asking price but passed on.

I don't understand why people don't post pictures? Are they just old baby boomers that don't know how to work the internet? [.IMG] URL [./IMG] or click "insert picture" paste url... takes a competent human being 3 seconds of their time to do that.

Free image hosting sites are more plentiful than cat dander. imgur.com is my favourite.

and that guy giving negative feedback for that.., I just picture a troll under a bridge somewhere... just generally unpleasant with life as it exists.

I know some folks are paranoid about their images being used to scam others. It's happened on other sites.

Fair enough, but on the flip side of that coin are scammers operating by showing pics only by PM in hopes that showing it to only a few people they get away with stolen pics. I would rather display my pics of any item and allow the community to see that they're authentic and search the pics against other sites to verify they're not stolen.

...WTF...for real?!

SO he wants $7,000 for a used, CLONE of a G36 and for you to have him do YOU a great honor by sending you pictures (which takes no time and should be a REQUIREMENT for selling on the EE!!!)...you HAVE to buy it, or receive negative feed back. How do you know if you want it until you've seen it? Who buys a home done/professional CLONE...and a USED one for $7,000 SIGHT UNSEEN. My GOD. That deserves a complete ban from this site IMO. That is called entrapment...onto of being a ####!!!

Honestly cannot stop shaking my head, some peoples kids...

Back to the original topic without the EE rants (honestly who buys shiat there???),
I dunno sounds a bit pricey even with the genuine conversion. For 7k you can get some really very very good rifles, like a stunning Barrett .338 lapua with some kick ass leupold optics and an atlas bipod.
Honestly I'd rather spend 7k on a long range setup like that than a g36 clone.
