Hey guys. I'm on the hunt for a new tatical toy! I will be using this gun for mostly just target and coyote hunting. I'm stuck between the two! Was wondering if anyone could help me out with the pro's and con's. I've been heard bul#### stories from both gun dealers and kinda just wanna get some real suggestions. Much appreciated

BOTH! (That's what I did!)

Both have their charms. Tavor has a habit of blowing propellant gasses in my face, but is otherwise very nice to shoot. RobArmx XCR is an awesome running machine, too. Sorry, but both are my favorites!

I owned both and now just the Tavor. If you are bush-wacking, try to shoulder each gun. The XCR is just very nose heavy. Shooting from the bench probably go XCR but for everything else Tavor.

Just my 2cents

Awesome, thanks for some info. Ya I heard that the XCR was nose heavy. Both are nice but I'm glad people are leaning towards the Tavor because thats the gun I really wanted to go with. Also what about customization? Do both have quite a few options when it comes to tricking them out and such.

I currently own both, the xcr have not been out of the safe in almost a year. It's a great gun, no question, but the shortness of the tavor makes it much more fun.

I owned both. I sold both. Not out of any real dislike for either gun, but the XCR was really front heavy, and I couldn't get any accuracy out of the tavor for gophers with its ####ty trigger.

Depends on what you want. shoulder both....For a while. The gun store is going to make a 2000 plus dollar sale regardless. Fool around with both for a while. This comes from someone that owns both an L and an M of the XCR variety.

tavor with an elcan specter dr! Thats the only way to go. 5000$ but hey it's facking awesome

don't laugh at my dog.

Own a M, a L and a few Tavors. It's all personal preference as all are great rifles but for me hands down the Tavor wins. So easy to shoulder and even off the bench is a pleasure to shoot. A smart shopper can own a Tavor and Elcan specterDR for under $4200 if you just shop around. The Elcan is a perfect match for the Tavor keeping the optic weight over the action where it's barely noticeable.

Damn, where do I get your job? I own an XCR-L and even that was a real stretch to my budget.

I should add that I'm a big fan of my XCR, but the perceived weight is definitely a bit on the heavy side. Ideally you could get an AR to fill the role, but of course in Canada you automatically become a baby killer if you take your AR out hunting, so that's out.

The XCR is essentially a heavy AR in terms of function and ergonomics, so if you're used to an AR, then the XCR will be an easy transition. I handled the Tavor in a store and it just felt clumsy to me, nothing was where I expected. It also felt heavier than it should have been for the length, but that would be more perception than reality.

First rule, never let something like a firearm be a burden to your budget or your lifestyle. If you saved your pennies and worked your a** off to get it than all the power to you and congrats for getting the rifle you wanted.

And your correct on the perceptive weight of the tavor. So many friends of mine pick it up only to say " wow this is heavy" but once shoulder the weight is gone. Ergonomics wise it's just practice. Try holding a XCR with only your strong hand on target for a few minutes the try the same with the XCR. It will become apparent very quickly which one has the better balance. I'm not XCR bashing. I love my M and have since sold all my RFB's even tho I'm a bullpup fanatic.

XCR is a better choice IMO if your going hunt with it, 3 conversion kit options!
Easy to shoot from prone and using a 30rd mag pinned to 5 as a bipod.
Great ergonomics but it is a bit front heavy. By adding a scope, the NEA stock adapter and buffer tube with a MAGPUL CTR it helps balance it out. But I don't see many people hunting and holding their rifles with one arm...
I'm not even sure how many even practice this Chris Costa carbine course technique.

If your just plinking at the range, CQB type of shooting then the Tavor.
