ATOMIC ammunition produces a .45ACP load that outperforms some 10mm & .357Mag loads of other manufacturers .....their .45ACP in 230 gr. Match bonded HP @ 1,000 fps .....and a 185 gr. 1,225 fps ....Holy Mother of God .....that's Smoking HOT.

I would love to find the 230 gr. Bonded HP @ a sizzling 1,000 fps.

I've got second best though, Hornady TAP .45 Auto +P 230 gr. JHP @ 950 fps....that's pretty kick @$$

Federal Hydra-Shock JHP 230 gr. Also is one of my fav's ...in .45 & 9mm I've got stocked.

But reading about this ATOMIC manufacturer I've never heard about made my jaw drop open lol

I will let OP shoot it in his gun first; that is way beyond SAAMI specs and nothing I am interested in subjecting my guns to. Not that I am against it in a gun built to take it, but a standard 1911 certainly isn't.

"...never said it was a 1911..." Doesn't matter. Over SAAMI spec is over SAAMI spec.
Kind of makes you wonder why they'd use a match bullet at those velocities. I don't think, without looking anywhere, that Atomic ammo is available here anyway.

I beleive that there are guns that could handle it, would I run it through mine?

Good guess though....it is for my Colt Government Model 01991 .45 ...which eats mostly factory WinUSA 230 gr. Ball .....but this 2012 production run Colt will have zero issues spitting out a few +P JHP's ....no issues what so ever.

I've run my para-ordnance p14 with .45-08 with no problems. Mind you I am running a 20+lb recoil spring and a thick shock buff.... 200 grain running at 1400 fps... 230 at 1200 But that is using cut down .308 brass.... making for a far stronger case

I also shoot the .45-08 at 200Gr@1400fps and 230Gr@1200fps.
I shoot these loads out of one of my Norinco 1911 pistols.
also with heavier recoil spring and shock buff.

I would ONLY use properly cut-down and reamed .308 cases for the purpose.
The thought of a case-head blowing out into the magazine well is not a happy one.

The head of a .45ACP case is not very thick, hence the use of modified .308 cases.

While 200 grain pills traveling at 1400 feet per second is not exactly laser-like.
IMHO...The old war-horse seems to feel a bit more frisky.:)

Why risk overpresure on a handgun, are you doing handgun armored elephant hunts or something?
Last time I checked the police is still using regular 9mm and it seems to kill criminals just fine.
I don't think they will be switching to atomic 45 any time soon.

Got a picture of it?? My series 70 government says hi and you've got good taste. :)
