Hey guys! i was just wondering, is there actually any law in B.C that states if i want to hunt with my sks that i must remove my fixed bayonet? i sure hope not as i dont want to mar up my sks removing the welded pin. does anyone know what the law is?

I have seen a few people with the bayonet removed on an sks because "a guy at the store said" he had to remove them. No laws about it enjoy!
But, what about concealed knife carry laws with blades over 6" in length when the gun is in a case in your vehicle or being carried by you to your stand?
The mechanism retaining the bayonet in any of the fixed positions is spring loaded...is this now an illegal "spring-assist weapon'??

I was once told (by a customer in Wal-Mart) that I couldn't carry an uncased rifle in my vehicle if I was also going to carry so much ammo, and why would anyone need to do that anyway?
I think the bayonet on the SKS is a perfect way to add weight on off-hand shots. Extend the bayonet, shift the weight forward of the muzze. Do I hunt with the bayonet on, NOPE. I am old and every ounce counts. And the bayonest don't fit in the synthetic stocks I need to use when hunting with a scoped SKS (read higher comb, conte carlo cheekpiece, extended LOP).

Conceal weapon offenses deal with weapons concealed on ones own person. If it is in a case, it isn't on your person. The bayonet is part of the firearm. It is normal and acceptable by the courts to carry a firearm in a case.

Lol im sorry if it sounds stupid of me. i have just had vairious, friends, Know nothing Know it alls, and other people tell me its illegal. come to think of it, i have never heard a Conservation Officer say either one way or the other. Is there a C.O out there that can tell us once and for all.? i like my Chinese Marstar SKS just the way it is. wood stock, bayonet and iron sights. i really didnt want to change it.
Tell us that bayonets are legal? Yes, there is a CO out there who can tell us once and for all. Probably more than one.

Few LEOs are experts in firearms law, and this includes COs. An LEOs interpretation of the law has proven inconvenient to more than one gun owner, and the best defense is to be well versed in the law as it applies to you. Most LEOs are reasonable folks who will listen to a credible argument, but you can always run into a guy with an anti gun agenda, who might wish to seize your gun until he's able to make a "proper determination as to its legality." This comes up from time to time with short barrel pump action shotguns, and a bayonet on the end of an SKS has the potential to set off this type of guy.
