I think the bayonet on the SKS is a perfect way to add weight on off-hand shots. Extend the bayonet, shift the weight forward of the muzze. Do I hunt with the bayonet on, NOPE. I am old and every ounce counts. And the bayonest don't fit in the synthetic stocks I need to use when hunting with a scoped SKS (read higher comb, conte carlo cheekpiece, extended LOP).
