Where dem buffalo roam.
My son and I are leaving for Australia in a few hours, for my third culling trip there and his first international trip of any sort. Its mostly about feral culling, but its hard to not take a buffalo or two while in the area. We're taking a couple large mag Rem 700 30-06s, a custom Sako .300 Rum and a total of 950 rounds counting the custom loaded stuff waiting at that end. Leupolds straight across, naturally.

Wish us luck if you can, but if you can't at least don't cheer for the critters.;)

That's not factoring in the rounds we shoot in the air, to you know, just celebrate stuff.

We're in Sydney now, on a layover before flying to Darwin, then an eight hour road trip from there. "Road" is a relative term, this road involves river crossings that make it up to the door handles during the dry season.

Two, a trail master copy and mine is a handmade 10" blade of ATS34. Handmade by me back when I had time for that sort of thing. If you're going to go "touristy" you may as well go all-out.

I'm debating alternating rifle shells with crocodile teeth in the hat-band. The guide has already predicted that I'll get beat-up in the airport if I dare; but I dunno, I think I can take him.
 
Yeah, that was the fourth shot. The first was through the shoulders at 20-25 yards, then as he went all rodeo for about 20 yards I got another into his ribs from the same side. Just to keep me entertained he then spun around and came back on the same path and took one from the other side and made it back to the same spot where it all started. He was facing directly toward me, and got locked on about the same time I popped him with the last shot in the .458. Water buffalo are funny, they can't lift their head very high so when they are staring at you their nose is pointing right at you. The bullet went out the back of his head. You can get an idea from this picture.



I actually shot him as a management bull a couple days later.

That would be quite at sight coming at you at 25 yards.
