I looked at the weaver type too and they look like they would be a great option but I just liked the look of the S & K style.
That Bipod looks funny so far forward.. nice gun though
I have ordered the S&K mount, thanks to Strato, the one you mentioned has bad reviews everywhere I've looked. Sloppy fit and won't hold zero apparently.
it did need some TLC and I should have mentioned that in my previous post,, the little screws on the side needed to be drilled out and a solid pin used in their place. Now it is rock solid and no mods to the gun or sight mounts needed so gun can easily be returned to original
Looking good! Can't wait to read the range report!
What are you hoping to achieve by scoping it ?
and for myself, sadly with my eyes now irons are almost useless over 100yds, scopes let me continue to enjoy longer range fun.
The goal is to hopefully improve accuracy. If I can get some nice groupings it should make a great target shooter at the Range and possibly a nice Deer hunting Rifle as well.
I received my S & K Mount for my Mosin today and put a NC Star 2-7x32 Scope on it...... the eye relief is perfect. The S & K mount is great, very sturdy and well built hopefully I will get some range time in soon.

by "accuracy", I was more referring to MY accuracy haha.....my M44 does what it does very well, I however require a lil magnification help to reach out and touch.
I need magnification as well. The trouble with magnification is that it usually lets you know how inaccurate the rifle is. A little tweaking makes a big difference. That's why snipers were issued with special ammunition.
Both groups were shot with surplus ammo using an SKS. The group on the right was shot shooting the rifle as standard, the group an the left was shot shooting it tweaked. This afternoon I will shoot it again with hand loads.

Here's my M-44. It shoots crap with the bayonet removed, the video I posted above explains why.

That NCstar scope should last about two shots...Maybe 3.
That is one beautiful M-44!
Strictly speaking I don't think it will improve accuracy, it will undoubtedly help you to see better thoughThere are a couple of simple things that you can do that will improve accuracy, floating the barrel, and hand loading. I have found that a 123 grain bullet and 52 grains of BL-C 2 works wonders in my M-44, it came with a floating barrel as standard. Using surplus ammo will not give accuracy that the rifle is capable of.
Watch this to understand how floating the barrel makes a rifle more accurate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGEh_GYgZqk&list=PL56D8F120881CDB5A
