Case Annealers

I bought an Anneal Rite off Lee(duceman) and it works great. Very consistent necks on my lapua brass. I'm on my 10th reloading for my coyote brass and still have all 100 pieces. They look and shoot brand new.

that is what I was thinking, a reasonable priced unit that works, Jefferson

That anneal rite looks to work okay, but I would not buy this over a drill setup in a long socket. I find that rotating the case over the flame gives a more uniform annealing line.
I just don't see the advantage with this setup because in the end, you are still eyeballing the anneal and doing it by hand.
(Plus if you have a drill and a socket set, it costs nothing to anneal any cartridge).

This.

I picked up a grizzly from grizzly gunworks in Hamilton, have not tried it yet, but looks very simple to use. Should have bought the tempilaq when asked at the time of purchase, can not find it here in sask.

The rotary annealer from Grizzly Gun Works looks great, except for the $800 price tag that goes along with it. I've looked at them, but for the amount of shooting that I do, I just can't justify that................guess I'll have to do some more shooting!!

Rotary automatic annealers are super nice. it,s just that I am not rich enough to afford a 800$ annealer just to play with it.
If you are, I am sure that this product will work super fine.

Me either I'll have to settle for one of the more affordable / repeatable suggestions given

go with the drill and long socket... I did 120 300 win mag cases and they all look the same with the nice line at the shoulder... cost 0$.

will work fine, as long as you use the tempilac to get the temp right. no point in going through the process if your not gonna get it right, lee

you don't "need" the tempilaq.
A nice anneal will produce a color change to the shoulder.
Anneal, flame over the case mouth, near the beginning of the shoulder. see the line going down, stop when color change is at the shoulder.... takes the same amount of time over the flame as guys with the tempilaq.
3-4 seconds for 223, 7-8 seconds for 300 win mag or something like that, others in between....

Get over it, you don't need tempilaq.

fair enough, i haven't developed color spectrum reading eyes, so i'll just go with what is guaranteed to give the same anneal every time.

is that 3-4 seconds for neck turned 223, or regular neck thickness? how many degrees between 3 and 5 seconds on regular 308? 50bmg? 17 rem? 30-30 win?
if 750* is the desired temp for a correctly annealled neck, is that not what we should be annealling to?
i anneal for consistant neck tension more than anything, but extended brass life, especially in my neck forming wildcats and comp guns is an added bonus.
for the average guy running 100 rds or less downrange each year, probably a waste of time.

time depends on the time it takes for the color change to hit the shoulder.
When the line is at the same spot, it's been uniformly heated to the same temp.

Just have a look at your tempilaq cases.... the line is always at the same place.
You don't need the tempilaq. Stop when the line is where you want it.

Whatever. Do what you prefer to do if you like that. I'm just saying that it's not needed.

I don't count the seconds, I watch the line

expensive annealers anneal by time anyway, so they would be less precise than watching the line, unless you are annealing ammo that is all the same batch and thickness, and all the same neck length....
the only thing that is more anal than hand annealing is tempilaq on every case.
you can also cut grains in half, or water weight your cases....

Some very successful bench shooters anneal after every firing.Tom Sarver was on his 58th firing( of the same brass) when he set the 1000 yard world record of 5 shots in 1.403 of an inch.
