I ordered another combo when I saw the 10% off deal, but I guess no discount when you pay by emt instead of credit card. Still a pretty good deal though, and the rubber grips they sent are a lot nicer than the stock ones. This one needs the rear sight drifted over a bit, everything lands about 6-7" to the left and the alignment marks between the sight and slide don't match. I might try to install some adjustable sights anyway. What's a good recomendation for a low profile rear adjustable sight for these?

Ordered one last night! This will be my first handgun and seriously looking forward to it. Anyone know where to get some items like a Beavertail, Commander Hammer, and sear for it? The Wilson drop in stuff looks like the ticket but i have no idea where in Canada to get it from?

I want to attempt to polish mine but im scared to be honest.

I got the shinny one nickel platted at a shop,, pretty cheap $125 ,,but if you dip the parts in white vinegar for a while the blueing cames off,, then use mothers polish(lots of coats) and a lot of hand work and a buffer and it looks pretty nice,, I know it works because I knocked some platting from another gun and I polished the steel with mothers and it looks the same as the platting!!!

I cannot resist a bargain. I needed more 1911s like I needed another hole in the head.... but at $250 a pop, how could I say no?

The object was cheap plinkers, so here is what I did:

Installed Hogue Palm Swell grips. $15 on ebay.

Installed hi viz fixed steel sights. Front sight required milling a Colt dovetail. Sight set $15 at Sarco.

Installed long trigger. $11 at Sarco. The stock trigger was a "short" model. I had to crook my finger too much and it tended to make me shoot left when shooting fast. The "long" model suits my hand best.

Did it myself trigger job. 5 pounds and crisp. Free

I have used these sights before. The front sight is taller than required, so you file it down to hit Point of Aim, for the ammo and hold you use. I will start sighting these guns in tomorrow. I have a new sight pusher ($50 on ebay) to make fine tuning the sights easy.

Maybe a silly question but I got one of these, as some others have said - couldn't resist the deal, but is it just me or is that ammo that comes with it extremely dirty. This is the only 45 I own so I am not sure if the amount of 'soot' is normal.
Thanks
