Hey everyone. Just looking for some input as to what I should mount on my rifle.

I currently have the Bushnell Elite tactical HDMR 3.5-21x50mm with Horus reticle mounted on my Remington 700 in .308 that is in a MDT chassis.

I also own a Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50mm EBR-1 reticle that I bought for another build. This one is brand new and I haven't shot with it yet.

Wife and I are expecting a baby soon so I have put other builds on hold/ sold most of my stuff. We also need to space so I have been getting rid of many of my toys. I do plan on keeping one precision rifle but now I have 2 scopes. Which one should I keep?

I am by no means an experience precision rifle shooter so it's not like I have gotten used to the Bushnell. I've put around 40 rounds through it as the range isn't that long. Mostly shoot ARs and pistols.

I do want to get more into longer range shooting or maybe even hunting. What would be best for the long run as I do not see myself really dropping money to get a new scope for the next little while.

Thanks in advance for your input!

And the vortex beside it.

If I had a choice between those two scopes I would use the RAZOR HD. But then again if I had that Razor HD I would sell it and buy a Sightron or Nightforce.

Sell both scopes while the market is still hungry for them.

Take that money and buy a Sightron SIII FFP or a Nightforce of your liking.

There are reasons why neither Bushnell or Vortex are used in LR F class shooting.

Not trying to stir up anything with the F class shooters but I didn't read anywhere in his post that he wanted to shoot just F class. I have no experience with those two scopes but have owned 2 Vortex and one did serve me well and the other has yet to be shot with. I've heard lots of good things about both. I personally would keep the H-59 reticle but that all depends on you...

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm not looking to shoot in a competition or anything like that at the moment. Will mostly be for leisure when I can.

I really like the horus reticle in the bushnell but also like the illumination on the vortex. I'll look at what I can get for them and see if I can get a slighting or NF with money left over. I just can't really be spending money with the baby coming.

I know vortex is quite new but I've had quite a few other scopes from them and never had a problem. Pst and razor gen 2 both were fantastic. Customer service is also top notch.

I guess I just want to make sure I keep the best scope out of the two because I don't think I will spend that kind of money on a scope in the near future. It's not like I need the money now since I've already spent it but if I had the money in the future I would probably rather spend it in the child vs putting it on a gun I wish i shot more...

Thanks again for the input.

The Razor HD will sell for nearly as much as the NF. With that said, the Razor HD is made in Japan unlike the PST models which are made in the Phillipines. Razor HD is a lot better than the PST. Perfectly capable scope. I think however you could find better clarity in the NF as well as it having zero stop.

The Razor HD is a very capable scope and numerous competitors are using it in tactical comps, same can be said for the HDMR. In my experience, the hdmr was one of the worst scopes I've ever owned, the glass was terrible and the turrets were a pita to lock down and didn't properly align with the scope body. The new Sightron ffp is the best value on the market at this time, extraordinary glass, excellent reticle and spot-on tracking. The Sightron; however, is unlikely to survive a drop from a helicopter.

Both scopes are excellent choices. With the nod in quality glass going to the Vortex Razor. The Bushnell is a worthy competitor though.

Figuring on a price difference of about $700 between the two...and not that much difference in performance, I would be sell of the brand new Vortex.

If tactical rifle is your thing...and you look at the top US shooters equipment list, S&B dominate, followed equally by Vortex, and Bushnell, with a splash of others.

Funny, neither the mighty Nightforce, nor Sightron is even listed in the top 50+ shooters.

No back up material? Read some other posts and find out what I've been doing for a living the last 3 years. When American snipers have all switched to metric for their rifles...its for a reason. Its way simpler to use.

And one other thing. Of the 28 teams at CISC this year, would u be interested in knowing how many are using MOA?...2 Its a Schmidt and Bender orgy out there.

Why would you say it's easier for Joe Blow to use mildot?

I'm genuinely interested, because I can't see how it would get much easier than MOA.

Please don't use military as an example. Joe blow doesn't need to hear their standards.

Maybe make a separate post. We don't need to fill this one up with off-topic material.

(Unless the OP wants to sell me his razor for ultra cheap because this is a forum of Vortex haters =) )

Honestly my Sightron SIII FFP has been out hunting in Northern Alberta with me for the last 7 days. It has been banged around riding on the back of a quad, has been between my legs muzzle down to the floor bouncing around off-roading in a jeep every day. Took it to the range - still bang on zeroed. (might be the nightforce rings and badger rail but meh) I'd say its holding up quite well. Obviously I'm not bashing the scope itself off hard objects but so far I'm impressed its holding up.
