So a buddy of mine just picked up a new JR Carbine AR "Style" in 9mm.
Not sure I like it....but have not fired it yet. Feels and looks a little too plasticky for me. Not cheap either? ....but non restricted, just take it home and start adding crap on all those rails ! Anyone own one ? any input ?

It's absolutely excellent and a ton of cheap fun.
A few months ago a bunch of us tried out various non-restricted rifles on a rifle IPSC-like course, and my JR Carbine had no FTF/FTEs, while the guy with the Beretta Storm had all sorts of trouble.

Yeah.. it doesn't look great.

There is some reason to believe that the 9mm version may be more reliable than the .45, but that's hearsay.

I like mine. Solid, never jams, is accurate 100yards+ Eats all ammo. Fun to shoot. Take it anywhere. Never had any issues with my 9mm. looked at the keltec sub first...yikes, it felt like a toy.... bought the JR.

Better than keltec and hipoint!
I've had issues with my 9mm jr, seems fine now that i rotated the bolt extension. Its fun, but it dirties up quickly, and its quite solid, everything is metal, no cheap plastic.
Would i rely on it for a go to rifle, hell no, i have other rifles for that, but its a fun non restricted shooter, thats all.

I have one in 40S&W. Like it a lot, shoots good, takes pretty much any AR accesories. Uses same ammo and mags as my Glock 22 and same ammo as my Beretta 96G, so lots of reasons for me to have 40S&W version. Only thing that's an anoyance is having to pull off the buffer tueb to take out the bolt for a good cleaning. I clean the barel after every shoting, but only do the bolt every other one or so. Sometimes I just soray the receiver with G96 and kinda wipe it out some. Seems to be holding up to my abuse so far.

Thanks TJ....I have a HiPoint 995 five with aftermarket stock, and compared to the JRC its a way better gun ! My opinion only tho....lol.

Let me get this straight...you think that the JR Carbine feels like plastic but your state of the art Hipoint is what...made out of more metal? How?

I dunno, I think the guy doesn't know what a JR carbine is, that thing is all metal, I don't get where he gets his plastic from.

I have worked on and shot extensively both 9mm and .45 versions of the JR
9mm had very little problems.a few ftf but I chalk that up to massive fouling from long days of blasting the thing with every ammo under the sun. The .45 is a completely different story. Could not get more than 2 rounds down range without the bolt litterally cutting holes in the side of a live round trying to feed. Tried all sorts of ammo to test. Came down as a timing issue.. The buffer spring was returning the bolt far faster than the mag spring could feed rounds up. Called JR And they sent me a .45 ungraded kit . Much heavier buffer , new buffer spacers, stiffer mag springs. Once installed the timing issue was fixed and the gun shoots great! No failures in first few hundred rounds of mixed ammo. I have heard that the .45 all around has these issues, hence the availability of a factory upgrade kit. Have been told the .40 cal is the most reliable out of the box. But since I don't have one I wouldn't know for sure.

I had some problems with my JR in the beginning, even though the upgrade kit was already installed. I modified the mag spring a little as suggested on the JR website, and have shot a few hundred rounds through it. As I shoot more rounds through it, it seems to be getting smoother and much more reliable. About the only thing that I don't like about it is needing a wrench to remove the buffer tube in order to tear it down. Otherwise, I quite like it. It certainly is very accurate to shoot.

I bet the receiver won't crack like my SU-16 did. ;)

AR A1 or A2 butt stock & tube . make a spacer so the internal tube length is the same as the JR tube.

AR detachable carry handle

AR barrel nut . you will need to make a spacer to go between the barrel & nut

AR front sight . cross pins will not work on the JR barrel , drill a set screw hole up through bayonet lug.

Hand guards on mine in pic are the longer carbine length

does any one know where i could get a 9mm in muddy girl pink camo. i called a few places and they can't be bothered. they make them and if we can get the zombie green one here ( i had one of these in my hand) then i can't see why i can't get the pink one. oh, it's ok, i'm a girl. if this gets me nowhere, i'll call JRC .
