considering the AR can't be used for hunting in Canada, stating that the T97 is better is a bit strange. Comparing it to say, a Mini14, would be much more fair. And with that comparison, I'd give it to the Mini hands down. Sure it's not a bullpup, but you're hunting, the small amount of difference in length isn't going to hurt you unless you spend your time crashing through really dense bush and can't manipulate a standard rifle properly.
Sorry I just can't like this thing. It could piss Unicorns and I'd still hate it. It's FUGLY to the extreme, not ergonomic in any way and has far too much design fail for expansion to even qualify as something I'd put in my safe.

But that's me. I'm going to go cuddle my Colt and TRG22 now.

Come on... I've owned a Mini 14 and they don't come close to the design of the T97. Even if the T97 was of convensional lay out the operating system is years ahead of the Mini not to mention the T97 is way more accurate. Also in a bush/hunting rifle how inportant is the mag change? I'll take the 10rd Lar mags over a 5rd Mini mag for fun in the bush and the safety is not that bad. Some of use know when to have fun with the fat girl once in a while ;)

My thoughts exactly even if your rifle is ergonomically superior i still have 15 rds over your 5

Yeah, my instinct would be to cope with the limitations of the gun as-is, treat it as a truck gun (which is a role in which I think it would perform pretty well) and just don't get suckered by the idea that it's a rifle which competes seriously with a mature platform like the AR.

Pretty much my opinion as well with the T97. It has it's pluses and I like it. But I won't be trying to turn it into something it isn't. I'd rather have it and use it for what it is than try to make it something it isn't.

Slavex, you keep coming back to this thread to state how much you are against the T97, that it makes me wonder if you are actually on the fence about it?

Someone who doesn't like it would post once or twice and probably keep away from the thread.
You seem to have this bi-polar reaction to it.:yingyang:

Tell us how you really feel.

i really hope no one uses this for hunting, specifically on bigger game. it's in humane to use
a 223 \556 on an animal. if you're going to put it out of it's misery, please be considerate and
use something that'll be an instant kill.

rant over :p

Slavex mentioned hunting, you shouldn't need more than one to hunt efficiently.

Read above, Slavex said HUNTING not screwing around..

And what advantage do you have for 15 rounds? Go through ammo a lot faster?

More ammo is always an advantage, its just not always necessary. By your logic we should all have single shot bolt actions.

.223 is more than capable of dropping mid size game such as deer. I agree its not ideal for Elk, Moose, Bear, or similar sized game. Shot placement is the key.

@headdamage, dude, I only own pretty guns you know that. Pretty guns that also work well. And the T97 can work as awesome as it wants but it's like riding a scooter or ####ing a fat chick...

yeah but fat chicks are good to back you up in a bar fight! Oh god I ve been in Petawawa too long!!!

lol, no I'm certainly not on the fence about one of these guns. I have actually turned down a free one.
@HeadDamange, recent Mini14s I've played with are a lot more accurate than some of the older ones. As well Ghost999 (Chris) has an old one that is at least 1MOA accurate, if not more so. I will concede the mag capacity point. But I still don't feel that is a good enough reason to own one of these things. Yes the machining is quite nice, but the design is just horrid. But hey, this is coming from a guy who has pierced parts of his body that really shouldn't be pierced....

Why would you turn down a free (legal, of course) gun? Christ, I wouldn't turn down a broken sks if someone offered to give it to me for free.

So you need 15 rounds to shoot at paper all day long?
Will it ruin your shooting if you have to reload more often?

We are not in America where if you use our gun in self defense without being raped by the legal system.
So more rounds essentially means nothing.

And single shot bolt action is totally different from what I'm talking about.
Having single shot semi auto rifle defeats the whole purpose of having the "semi auto" gun.
