I know this has probably been asked before so I'll apologize now. But I'm looking for some suggestions for good quality, tall rubber boots for hunting. If you have some suggestions please let me know. Also where I can find them too. Thanks

I just wear muck boots (wetland) ....available in lots of places....WSS etc. I bought mine at muckbootsandmore.com because they were relatively local for me...took care of me and no complaints. I find my mucks very comfortable and have had no issues with them for 3 years of fairly rough use.

If your going to be doing a lot of walking, get good ones that are molded at the calf. These are usually a $100.00 and up. If your doing a lot more sitting the green Kamicks will work, but they are not great for walking long distances as they start to rub and can cause blisters and sores.

I bought a pair of Kamicks IIRC (basic rubber boot) and walked a lot in them, no issues with rubbing. I bought a set with felt duffel socks in them though. If you go that route, buy an extra set of duffel liners, for use on alternate days, your feet will be warm, dry, and happier for it. Way less headaches to have one set drying while the other is in use.

Cheers

Nokian.

Absolutely the best rubber boot ive ever worn. I have a winter pair and a summer pair, one or the other gets worn almost every day of the year. Im exceptionally hard on footwear, and besides the sole wear, they look like new after a few years of use. Structurally they are still sound, and due to the softer, more malleable rubber they arent cracking at all. Other boots ive had like Acton or Lacrosse didnt last me nearly as long or hold up nearly as good.

$29 Canadian Tire specials. Lined with thick wool/duffel, like the Kamiks. Hiking, sitting, driving, whatever. Warm dry and comfy. For the money, my feet are happy as heck and my wallet is too. Next season I'll likely have to buy new liners. Depends how much walking I do it them. No blisters due to the thick wool....

Getting a spare pare of the liners is a good idea (as posted above) but I find if I remove them and put them upside down over a heat register, they are bone dry the next day.

From the tire people?

I don't really trust in cheap boots any more. They are okay for day trips but if you are out on a week long moose hunt and they start leaking you can be SOL pretty quick.

I had a pair of ultralites that didn't last one hunting trip... the sole seperated from the boot and the camo pattern had faded away from walking through the scrub.

I have a pair of Irish setter Rutmasters and have to say for the price these boots are awesome! Very comfortable and warm... even good for 10km treks...

personally id go muck boots or the under armour ones light flexible and they last I have a pair of the redhead ones and damn are they ever heavy to walk in all day

I typically wear LaCrosse..I have had very good luck with the Burly. !st pair last me many, many years of hard use.

Now I have a pair of Irish Setter Rutmasters. I'm on the 3rd season and they seem to be holding up OK.

Those Canadian Tire special, felt liner type boots suck *ss...sock eaters.

You have to spend about $100 or more for good boots...your feet will thank you.

Got my first pair of muck boots this year. Very happy so far, way better than any 'rubber boot' I've ever worn. Farthest hike so far is about 1 1/2 miles, no chafing or blisters and the insole is real comfortable.

For all the guys recommending MUCK boots, do any of you wear them in swamp/marsh type areas? I was thinking about getting a pair but doubt that they'd last with all the branches, twigs and junk in the streams poking through the tops. So are they up to the task? Thanks for the help.

I've got a pair of Dunlop Puroforts, They have no liner to get wet, good traction in all conditions and I've never been cold in them even while icefishing. Not too bad for walking but they are a bit noisy if you're trying to stalk in them. Also they're expensive (around 270.00$) but i've got 3 and a half years out of them so far and they still work great.
