hey I've recently got into hunting and just bought a blind but now i need something to mask my scent and there's so many products on the market does anyone have any suggestions as to what works best

Non scented soap for you and your hunting clothes.
When you get real desperate, a real wet fresh cow paddy
usually does the trick.
My dog when she was younger really enjoyed rolling in them
and I can guarantee you, she didn't smell like no canine.

You can also pack all your outerwear into a bag or tote bin with cedar limbs. There are all kinds of scent killing sprays available. I use a scent killing laundry detergent on all my clothes prior to the hunt and Tinks and Wildlife Research Center Scent Killer spray for my clothes and Scent Killer deodorant. I also found some Scent Killer moist towelettes in the camping section that I will use this year since I have a tendacy of breaking into a sweat quite easily when walking into my watch.

Hunting DOWN wind of expected game travel.

NOTHING will eliminate human odor.As soon as you breathe or expose your flesh to the air, guess what you are stinkin up the joint.

Scent eliminating products are geared towards human noses.

Ever seen a study where an engineer says to his white tail buddy...................."Hey Carl...................................you still smell my arse when I spray this stuff??"

Well... I have no idea of the efficacy of this. I bought a 3 for one package of doe urine, doe estrus and buck urine from Canadian tire. I smelled the packaging and it STUNK to the high heavens. I thought thought about where to put this - a light bulb went off in my head. I put all 3 into my hunting jacket. Which will stink of deer pee... Which should attract deer right? I figure this is either brilliant or retarded.

Unscented deodorant and throw your hunting clothes in with some sweaty horse blankets....that does the trick for me. Deer are pretty stupid anyways but they seem to notice movement more then scent unless your "cologne boy".

i hunted mostly on farm land. so i wore rubber boots around the barn and did not avoid the droppings. hung my hunting clothes in the barn . Deer were used to the cow smells and i thought they would be used to it no matter where i was . Never went home empty handed.

K.T. / rural / Toymaker gave you the right answers...Keep body odour down , hunt the wind, wear rubber boots, I make a cover scent boiling balsam boughs, just the tips, in apple juice, put it on my boots, bottoms and sides to walk to my stands. When you are sitting, always be as still as you are when a big buck is 20 yards in front of you, they ARE watching! I have several tame deer, raised as orphan fawns, when I see their "scat" around my yard, I purposely step in it before going hunting! WORKS for me, Jim

K.T. I think you meant to say Downwind. Respectfully Jim

I did say upwind!!!!

I go fix!

Make your own spray. 16oz (aprox 2 cups) of peroxide, 2 cups distilled water, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 oz uncented shampoo (I use baby shampoo), mix water and baking soda, then add peroxide, mix well, then add soap. When you first mix it it will foam up quite a bit but after it sits for a while it will e better. This stuff works.

I used to hunt with a Dairy farmer that always showed up late after milking his 50 cows. He would leave his barn boots, coveralls, on and put a safety vest and hat on. He seen more and got closer to Deer than all the rest of us! Now he was a very poor shot, didn't like to eat venison, wanted to be one of "the boys"But he did get Lots of chances....Jim

ok, let me call BS on the scent elimination market. I smoke, I like a good campfire, and at tiimes Im in the bush for a few days.. so Im not having a traditional shower.
I have had deer walk within 30 yards of me while Ive been sitting there at a campfire, had deer walk near me while I sat there having a smoke. I have even seen deer walk within 10 yards of where I took a poop.
Its more about them seeing you than them smelling you. A white tail might bugger off at the sight of you from 200 yards, a mule.. they might let you get closer. Ive always found it to be a "sight" thing, and little to nothing to do with a smell thing. This year I was on a trail of a couple deer, they buggered off through one cut to another. I followed them. ended up that I passed them and on my way back.. there were 6 or 7 deer right where I had come through a few mins before. I sat an watched them, then one doe came my way within a few yards.. when she saw me she let out a huge exhale and a foot stomp. All the deer scattered, and I blew it. but it was because she saw me.. and looked at me for about 10 seconds to really try and figure out what I was. I was in camo and crouched down with my rifle in my hands.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Smoke cuban cigars. The deer will be intriqued by the smell.

Or hang outside a truckstop then go out.

I jump plenty of birds goin' down my road because I'm driving it at 30 or 40; not parade speed like the hunters. I don't sound like a hunter so they don't scatter.

If you don't smell like a hunter they won't worry. You really need to get your gun not smelling like a gun. ;)
