Needed a new winter project. Found this Walther Uzi, looks cool. Rather doubt we can get it here. Picked up a Marlin 795 for a donor, a suitable alum billet, alum tube and some pics. Let the fun begin.

Another project that involves a lot of sittin' and thinkin' Machine out the alum billett to fit the Marlin action inside. I'm thinking that the Walther Uzi is not available here. Maybe somebody can correct me. I thought it was a neat looking gun.

very very cool and i'm all for the mods! my only concern is with moving the trigger forward like that and making the gun more compact is with it falling into the "bullpup" category even tho its not a bullpup look a-like. just something that popped into my mind...

Looks like a great winter project. However, like pointandshoot said I'd be a bit concerned about the ' bullpup ' effect.

I had an idea for a winter project of my own that I've put on hold till I can get that part researched. The loophole might be ' reversable ' bullpup. If the mod was permanent it might be legit but I couldn't find the text to be sure. Maybe someone who's better are interwebs stuff can help us out.

gl. looking forward to updates.

Thanks for the concern. It shouldn't fall under the bullpup class. This has the same basic layout as my Buckmark rifle. Also have a Keltec Sub 2k, same basic design.

Nice.
Looking forward to see when it's completed.
Btw, what will the aluminum tube be using? Forend?

The aluminum tube will be a barrel shroud, personally like that look better than the fake can pictured. The fore end on the Walther version has a pic rail on the underside, hidden by the fore end cover. Nice spot for a laser or light.

A bit of progress on the project. Bolt release, trigger and transfer bar and the mag release are almost functional in the research and development phase [ trial + error ] for those of us without a wall of diplomas. Have to fab up the whole module to assure smooth operation to facilitate machining of the bits and pieces for final assembly of this part of the puzzle.

How would this NOT be considered a BULLPUP by the powers that be...??? Have someone let us all know when you get a knock on your door, i would not touch that one with a 500' pole. :( Really nice work though!!

Do you even know what a bullpup is? The trigger mechanism and chamber are forward of the grip not behind so not a bullpup.

As far as I know, if the Mag is behind the trigger, it's a bullpup. If you are changing the trigger system then yes it it. If you are building the magazine to slide into the grip, the trigger would have to be located behind the mag. If it isn't, then it's a bullpup.

Looks like 3-10 years and you've posted incriminating pics on your account.
Being honest I'd pull all the stuff off your account!
I assume you don't have a firearms business licence. You need one to do the stuff you are doing, otherwise it's jail time and or a boatload of money.
