Very pleased! Thank you Sergey and Al (Westrifle).
All-matching metal in its original blued finish, and in absolutely pristine condition! The stock was replaced during the arsenal refurbishment process with a 1950's "new production" darker laminate. The nice thing about this stock, aside from its colour and superior strength, is that it was made specifically for the 1949 variant. The forestock is shallower than later years and has a proper channel for the cruciform bayonet. 1949 refurbs typically have recycled hardwood stocks that were modified to fit, including what is often an "angle grinder" job to widen/lengthen the bayonet channel. When it comes to refurbs, I prefer them being arsenal fitted with new laminate stocks and with all-matching metal (of course). This one is certainly a keeper!
There is very little evidence of wear on any metal part. Based on its condition and lack of wear indicators, I would say this one didn't see much use!
