I'm just curious ,I just purchased a new mini 14 and on the heel every one I've ever seen says cal 223. The one I got says. 5.56 NATO. Which is pretty much the same but does any one else have 5.56 NATO stamped on the heel of there's ,let me know
Always wanted one for yote hunting but cannot spend that kind of coin on something that is hit and miss on accuracy.
Try reading less on the Internet and more actually shooting one. They might just surprise you.
Snip And Mini-14's are well known to be over-priced and inaccurate, but fun to shoot.

The reason that they are "well known to be inaccurate" is because people like you keep spreading that rumor all over when it is not necessarily true! And I'm still waiting for your suggestion as to what might be a better American made, non restricted, semi auto 223 that goes bang every time you pull the trigger. And don't forget to keep the price under $1000 too.![]()
My 581 series Mini-14 has "Cal .223" printed on it. At 100 yards, I typically achieve between 1.8 & 2.5 MOA. The type & weight of the ammunition does make a difference.
