Got my first Kimber 1911 in the mail today, an Eclipse Custom II 10mm. Beautiful gun and man is this thing tight, manual says the break in period is 500 rounds so I gotta get started on that.

This has been an expensive 2 weeks, Desert Eagle, S&W 627 PC, Kimber and a Ruger GP100.

Sorry for the crappy photo, one day I'll actually spend some money on a decent camera.

very nice gun!

i picked up the entry model in the spring time and it is soooo tight that its a dream!
break in period may be a bit more then 500.
i think im over 1000 with mine now and its still just as tight as it was out of the box!

that is a gorgeous finish on that gun!

A thing of beauty. ! When I get a Kimber it's gonna be in 10mm and this one is the prettiest one they make. Great choice in a fine looking pistol.

Kimber 10mm

Very nice.

Break in with 500 rounds of full house 10mm? Hope you reload or have deep pockets. ;)

Yeah I reload, it's hard to find 10mm brass so I'm going to have to buy some factory ammo, price isn't to bad I picked up some Federal AE for $32/50.

I had to check, no it is not.

I'm not sure about the safety or grip safety, but I'm not disassembling it that far.

I wouldn't worry about the other parts. The slide stop is a high-wear part and will take quite a beating from 10mm. Glad they didn't cut corners there. Is the mainspring housing composite or metal?

I found the same thing with my Colt Delta... 10mm brass scarce & expensive when found. So, I had a .40 S&W barrel fitted to my Colt so now have access to all the free once fired .40 S&W brass the local munie cops leave littering the local ranges to feed it.

Only use full house 10mm for those 'special occasions'...lol...

nice gun!
I am not into 1911s but I ever get one it might be a Kimber.

The 1911 was never really a favorite of mine either but early on it was the basis for a number of paper punchers when I first got into that as a course of shooting. Over the years I've had a few but fairly recently I had the option to acquire my first Kimber from a guy in Victoria:).

It's a .45ACP Super Match II worked over in their custom shop. Of the custom, Gold Cups and other 1911's I've had and still have, trigger pull, fit, finish and accuracy wise, this is the best of them all,:D by far.
