Started a new curly maple for my F-Class rig UPDATE JAN.10TH, FINISHED PICS

This may be a dumb question but why not use one piece of wood the proper width vs glueing 2 together? I had someone on here make me a stock a while back that was laminated and it was cracked/opened up at a glue joint.

Good for you !!

Tonight I did not do much, jointing the top of the block, cutting the underside straight, I can say that I pushed the limit of my table saw.

And here is one of Eddycat's creation, the adjustable cheek piece hardware. Can't wait to get my hand on it. It is the prototype, I'll use it on my own stock and report if there are some changes to make for his stock.

Hehe!

Hope you'll like it. I really enjoyed doing it.

I just want to apologize in advance to professional machinists for my rough work: it is a hobby that I discovered sometime this fall and I still have a lot to learn.

It weighted exactly 164 grams in its bubble wrap enveloppe at the post office.

Now, let's get working on this adjustable buttplate!

Excellent thread!

I enjoy your threads immensely Bob; can't wait for the next update and ultimately to see the finished product!

I will start the inletting tomorrow evening. Since I use to make Axis stocks, I have all my note for tool, position of router, depth of cut, etc. The top will be completely inletted tomorrow, then it will be the trigger guard, and the hardware.

Got this in the mail today. On another site we have a Secret Santa gift exchange. I don't think I will use it on this project, but still, nice piece.

if i may suggest to move the action back towards the butt plate as far as you can (trigger guard as well)

that way the trigger is easier to manage well for shooting, (more natural position) for your hand, try it and see for yourself,

and my suggestion as to a parelel bottom was that incorporated ?, it does NOT have to be a regualr angle on the back bottom of the stock behind the trigger guard you know, the parrellel will track better
