Hi all. I'm just getting into wet tumbling my brass and I can't find Lemishine anywhere.

Everyone says Canadian Tire but I have probably a dozen stores locally here (southern Ontario, GTA) and can't find it on the shelf, even though their web site and in-store kiosk says they have it. Canadian Tire's stock tracking system is useless.

Does anyone know any other stores (even online) that stock it in Canada? Or can someone suggest a substitute?

Right now I'm tumbling with very diluted Hornady Sonic Cleaning solution, which has the require citric acid, but I'd prefer to use the tried and true recipe.

I definitely bought some at CT. IIRC it was $4 a bottle. So I bought 3, because you never know when they will stop carrying them.

I think it is just a dishwasher additive to help clean up the dishes. Citric acid (lemon or orange) crystals. I would suspect any similar dishwashing rinse crystals might work similarly. Since I don't use a dishwasher, I can't comment on a specific substitute.

CT ought to be able to tell you which stores have it in stock.

You can also get citric acid at the grocery store. It's used for canning, though it probably wont be called that. I got mine at CT too. Look in the washing products aisle.

Pretty sure kingston and stclair has it, if not warden and eglington, walmart is worth a shot and apparantly bulk barn sells citric acid too but i have never looked for it.

OK, I'll keep looking. Their online inventory tool says 3 in stock for every store I check, which one of their helpful sales associates has informed me I should interpret as 'hey, it might be there, but probably not.' ;)

You can get this at Home Hardware. Exact same thing, I have and use both.

I'm using "Finish" dishwashing booster

So I took a look around and there was a guy who analyzed Lemishine and it came back as something like 98% citric acid. So if I can't find it, I suppose I can always use a substitute. Lemon flavoured Tang might work. ;)

What's in Lemishine?

canadian tire. any citric acid will do.
4$ a bottle or so.

If you use too much (like I did before, a few tablespoons), your brass will spot when dry.

If your CT store is like ours, then like ours they probably have it but the way they stack product on the cleaning supplies shelves makes locating a container of Lemi-Shine like playing a "Where's Waldo" game. Can't ask a clerk. They don't know where the tires are. Anyhow, if it isn't with the dish washing stuff, try looking amid the furniture polishes or drain cleaners.
