I'm looking to buy a .22LR handgun for my 15 year old daughter and I'm looking for ideas. She has shot my Glock 17 but I'm looking for a .22LR for her first gun. I like the idea of the Sig 226 .22LR so she can change up later on to 9mm but I'm not sure what is best. She loves the look of the Mosquito with the pink frame, but I've read that the reliability isn't that great.

What do you guys/gals suggest?

A ruger Mk III 22/45 Target with pink laminate 1911 grips. You won't get a better semi .22 pistol than a Ruger.

Go for the full frame 226R in 22lr. She can swap out the grips for pink hogues. Her first gun is likely a keeper. Get her something worth keeping. The Mosquito is an 8/10 Sig and not even made by them. And it cannot be converted to 9mm. Stay away from the Mosquito

CZ SP01 - Can get with a .22lr kit. I don't have the kit but I do have the 9mm and it is sweet. I have spoke with someone who does have the kit and she claims it works flawlessly. That said, I am also told that for .22lr the Ruger MKIII is about the best.

Consider the GSG 1911-22, avoid the Mosquito, and the Browning is much more fieldstrippable than the Ruger.
^^^This^^^ I love my GSG1911 and find it to be as accurate as it is fun. Nobody has recommended a revolver yet but the S&W 17's are a real beauty, probably more fun than an automatic in the end

This is my Mark III and I learned on my dads Ruger Standard and Mark II when I was 12.

I think a cooler gun for her would be a GSG 1911 .22 with these grips I have on my SAM 9mm.

She will flip. What girl wouldn't want a 1911 with pink flame grips. I did.

Buckmark or Ruger would prolly be my first choice. My wife shoots the Buckmark and really likes it.

You might also try to see if she has any preference towards style of gun - ie revolver v/s 1911 v/s buckmark.

My 2 cents - GSG 1911 or M&P 22. Have both - the M&P is a very light gun and fun. I think she will be very happy with any gun that you get her :)
Merry Christmas

The M&P .22 would be a good choice. If you would consider a revolver, look for a High Standard Sentinel. Shoot very well, can be had for under $200.

S&W 422 or 622. Nice inexpensive .22lr, light and good to train with. Simple to maintain, clean every 500 or so rounds. My daughter and my friend's daughter love them.

If she has small hands, she might really like the Beretta Neos. I handled one once, and even though the Buck Rogers look puts me off, I've never forgotten how good it felt in my hand. I may have to buy one...
