Just got through reading a revisited thread on Norinco quality and the last post wondering if the OP had his rifle blow up and kill him or not,.. and looking to the future I got to thinking..........

............I've been on this board since 2010, and this board has operated mainly on the questions and experiences of Norinco M-14 owners.

There is a bit of input from owners of M1a's and LRB's, but they seem so few and far between,..most of information shared has been from the Chincom rifle.

While these ChinCom discussions have been the brunt of many jokes and jeers by some owners of US made rifles and their tag along wannabe's, I've personally learned alot about the platform, and learned it all on a Canadian site, from Canadian's, with our own experiences, perspectives and questions pertinent to rifles sold in real time in our country. An invaluable data base. I've seen each generation become experienced with the M-14, matured and then passed their knowledge and experience on to newer Chincom shooters, and then fade away in the sunset. Just like most anything in life really.

So what now for the Battle Rifle Forum?

It appears that ChinCom receivers are all but done. Some in the know have said if forgings started again, and this is probably not going to happen,.... you may see a 50%-100% increase in price.

"Yea buddy but I can still get the M1a so all's good right?" You sure can,..just expect to pay even more for it in the future. Remember how hard it was to save 2500, and how all you had in the end was a Desk Top image to admire?
The Norinco M-14 actually kept the M1A prices in check, just like the Nork CQ-a and the NEA-15 helped keep stratospheric climbing US made AR prices in reality for us for a few years now.

You won't see "like new" Norinco M-14s selling for 350-400 shipped either, if you've been one laughing on the fence these past few years, they are starting to climb on the EE already. Great working rigs like my 2009 won't be offered up on the EE mainly because the receivers are too valuable, and we can always put a 350 dollar US, or used Nork barrel on in the future to keep our addiction going.
So except for the few odd dissenters of the rifle I've seen over the past 4 years, that initially I'm sure would feel very smug indeed if the Chincom rifle was dead as being imported here, what about the Battle Rifle forum in general? Who will keep it going? If not for each new generation who buy, ask question, learn, and pass on the information regarding the 305, what would keep the forum alive? What would we post about, read about, laugh about?
Would the new threads go something like,.."I held an FN C1 once? or,.... "I remember when I used a TRW M-14 as a jack handle for my pickup for 25$? Or,..I just dumped 4 grand on my new LRB, want look at it?"
Really will that keep this alive without the Chincom Rifle being imported and sold to new shooters with all the silly questions, upgrades, accuracy improvements, clinics,. and of course any real safety concerns to balance it all out.

What does the M-14 and the Battle Rifle forum future hold for us Canucks?

there will be much less newbies buying them for sure, and the quality will be worse than now i think. the new famae sg 308 will keep it going somewhat but those are for the very rich

This is why we need a new Canadian battle rifle, but most trends are going the other way with the traditional crowd not being interested in it and the tactical crowd mostly sticking to the AR15 platform.

I've always wondered why no one has started developing a new Enfield.

If the market is there, the product will be. The problem, is that the Chinese are not going to tool up for us alone. Canada is a pip squeak market place, the USA want's to maintain their market share through isolation, and the rest of the world doesn't share the same interest in this platform.

CanAm has stated the Chinese will be making new receivers.

Even at a 50% increase the rifles will still sell.

The improved type 97 will also be available fall 2013...

At a 50% increase, the rifle would sell for 700-800 right? If it comes with a whack of improvements, stainless barrel, scope mount, railed upper hand guard system...
...then maybe I'd buy one. The Springfield sells for $1700-$2200, but that's crazy talk.

$450 x 1.5 equals $675. Not exactly $800, is it?

Lever's guns sold just fine at $700 15-20 years ago. If the new guns come in at $675 +/-, they'll do just fine, despite not meeting your requirement for personal purchase.

I said $700 (whoops, $25 off the rock solid 50% vow) to $800. My math is the same as the importers in this country. US gun: $400= $700 in Canada. I hope you're right, and the price is reasonable, the quality control improved. My guess, however, is that the quality will be the same, patchy, and the price will come in higher.

Gotta fight to keep these types of rifles non-restricted. One of the reasons they are so popular is because of this classification. The Liberal Party will try to finish the job they started in the 90s. ARs used to be NR.

Jesus, dude. You said $700-800. Can you not remember what you posted a few minutes ago?

Now you're changing your arguement into the US/Canadian thing. Don't like the guns? Don't like the price? Don't buy them. Or do you have so little to do that you need to troll CGN?

I'm not Jesus, or dude. The quote you just made, also says $700 to $800. Do you not read posts before you quote them? Hmm. Doesn't matter, I just remembered I don't care. I like the m305. Mine shoots great. I bought it because it was an excellent value. From what I understand, the pricing was low, because a lot of stock that had been destined for the US market never made it before cutoff, and was cleared to us. Heck of a deal, won't see it again.

Don't worry, I have better things to do than troll cgn, as much as I enjoy a well crafted trolling. Killer Judas Priest avatar, by the way. Rob Halford is my favorite studded leather, assless chaps wearing, S&M loving, ### rock god.

LOL. That's not very well crafted trolling at all. You'll have to step up your game.
