so...do you handload or shoot factory?

and what bullet weights you run?

I run 55gr ammo 50 meter zero in CQB and short COF

and all matches with a COF over 100 meters I run Hornady 75gr match with the same 50 meter zero

but for 2014 I am running a 35 meter zero and I might load my match ammo with 69gr Scenars.......now to find lots of bullets

Factory .223 - currently 55 gr American Eagle which is fairly cheap. I am going to try some heavier rounds this year since my rifle has 1:7 twist and see how much of a difference it makes, especially at longer ranges. Where I am currently shooting, it is rare we go beyond 75m so the 55 gr have been working fine. Hoping to get some longer range shots in this year. I am not willing to commit the time to reloading.

I use pretty much any cheap 55gr fmj for anything 100 yards and closer.....except the S&B cheapo....it prints like buckshot at 50 yards

100 yards and beyond, |I handload 53 gr SMK's with BLC-2!

Currently using a 1:8 twist ATRS barrel

ok weird I found a box of 53 gr SMK and set my dropper at 26.5 grs of BLC-2,cci primers,Win Brass loaded to P mag length.....and they shoot awesome out of my KAC and XCR ( at 100 meters) I need to try them out to 300

I gave handloading a try....way too much work. Only factory ammo for me now.

...and the lazy bastard of the year award goes to....

I use reloads for all my rifle/pistol ammo.
Rifle ammo is 55gr. Hornady FMJ over 27gr of 748.
I shot one big match in Missouri using 75gr. Hornady HPBT's over 24 gr. of 748, but only because I didn't have enough 55's loaded up...

Pistol is 124gr. Zero's over 4gr. Of Bullseye.

I still reload my pistol....just rifle I don't. Case prep and working up loads is too time consuming

I prefer to use Norinco ammo as it keeps people's attention when I'm shooting.

Boom, boom,boom,BLAM!, boom,bang....

That and the fireballs coming out of the barrel make for a great show.

Hey there now!!

He's got a ways to go before he steals my title away ;)

Use an Elcan Spectre DR so I find it the best to zero at 300metres with 69gn rounds then confirm hits at 100m to 500m with multiple loads and weights. Keeps me on my toes when I can't ship ammo to matches in the states. I would prefer to load but I buy what I can get my hands on. Preference to Black Hills but currently run Fiochi until it runs out.

I will say if your not shooting at steel out to 300-500 yards like the states matches you are wasting your money with heavier than 55gn bullets.

From the responses here I see most guys are hand loading or buying mid to expensive 223. I have just been shooting bulk Norinco ammo for practice. SHoots well enough for 100 and under
Is there one step above norinco for bulk practice and matches?

If the Norinco does what you want it to then why upgrade? I've never run it - do you get fails to fire with it?

Does any of the matches chrony loads?

Havent seen in years. Died with power factor scoring.

Does anyone tailor their loads with their break/ compensator?[/QUOTE]

No not really. Not anybody that knows 3G equipment. Better off tailoring load to other factors.
