bc transfer time

My last two transfers have been almost immediate. In fact the shop couldn't believe it when I walked back in 30 minutes later to pick up my firearms and the transfer notice and STATT were on their fax machine. The key is to buy from a shop an hour or so drive away, and be willing to sit on hold for 30 mins. First was an AR in late august, and then my M&P on dec 23rd. They will give you an immediate transfer if you have to drive an hour plus each way and you are at the shop ready to pick it up. While I don't like having to wait on hold, at least the ladies working at the CFO are always nice and friendly, and easy to work with.

For me it is Corlanes in Dawson Creek. Great shop and people and their prices are almost always the same as the mail order places.

Im surprised it takes weeks for some people. My experiences have always been efficient = 24 hours or less. Usually a call in the next day helps significantly.

Have done a couple lately....

A person to person where the seller was in Ontario. Got my approval from the BC CFO in less than 4 days. 'Course seller then had to get ST-ATT from Ont CFO to mail it. Then I had to wait for Cdn Post to work their magic. Overall quite painless given the distance it had to travel to get to me.

A local dealer to me transfer was even quicker, though. Got the ST-ATT the same day the transfer was initiated.

pretty fast at the moment. just sold one of mine to a chap in bc. transfer initiated monday. approved today. shipped today. should be delivered to him this coming monday/tuesday.

Bought a new gun from a dealer and the transfer was approved from the CFO next day. First for me usually a week around this time of year.

So mine has been 2 days, I called the 1800 number and she said its still at the Chief firearms office, I asked if they had a estimate of length and she said usually takes 5-10 business days..?
Is there another number I can phone, because she certainly didn't do anything for me haha.

What number are you guys calling where they are approving it for you right there when you call in?

my first handgun was ready in the morning the next day with STATT. I just purchased a new one today and it was about 30mins. I just called and gave them the transfer confirmation number and they ok'd it and faxed the STATT to the store. I pick it up tomorrow, as that's when I leave back to home.

I know a lady that works at the firearms center in New Brunswick and she gave me the low down on what is happening in BC. She does know exactly why but she told me for whatever reason now New Brunswick is doing the transfer approvals for BC. She thought maybe because is was due to all the complaints they were getting about BC taking so long.

She also did not know how long they were going to do it for but at least for now they are getting done in a very timely manner. We can only hope it stays this way.

Is there another number you can phone other then the 1800 number? It seemed like all she could do was tell me the status of the transfer.
