Got .22 ?

Went to cabelas a few days ago, they literally had made 15-20 boxes of misc. 50 rounders. I was shocked(and pissed) asked an employee and he confirmed there is a back order on alot of ammo right now, mainly .22.... its happening!

I talked to a local outdoors store owner and what he told me is there is a handfull of manufactures that make .22 ammo. These manufactures each make a certain number of .22 rounds every year. This number, according to him, does not increase or decrease with demand. So when the US was threatening bans on guns a while back and stores were selling out of firearms everyone was also buying up lots of ammo, myself included, thus straining that certain number of .22 rounds made per year. Demand increased ten fold and supply stayed the same therefore this "shortage" has occurred.

Just what I was told take it for what it is worth.

Our local Canadian Tire store has been out of 22 ammo for about 4 months. I stocked up last summer and have lots to weather the next decade or two...........Still an ammo hoarder never sleeps and I am looking for more

In my area, near zip is available. Sail, Baron, Crappytire, if you're lucky they have one or maybe 2 types, and even then only a few boxes of each.

Maybe they all use the same distributor and it's just them who's low or out of stock but my stash is starting to suffer.

Glad I stocked up on cci sv and blaser ! 12000 rounds should last me awhile ! My can tire has been all out since dec and very little shows up haven't checked my lgs but will tomorrow ! Can never have enough !

It's all in very short supply here in the States.

I've been looking for more CCI Subsonic for the longest time. There's just no supply.

We have a lot of new shooters. All of us in the industry are slammed, and it seems to be hitting ammo makers the hardest.

Here, rimfire is almost up to the price of centerfire (and, in some cases, actually supersedes the price of centerfire.)

Been thinking about chambering something in .22 Epperson Cricket just so I can handload hunting rounds.

Regards,

Josh

Every week or two I go to my local gun stores and ask about CCI Standard Velocity, haven't seen any for at least 6 months. In the meantime they have CCI AR Tactical 40 grain copper-plated in 375 rounds/box for somewhat more than I was paying for 500Rnds of SV.

I too have been looking for CCI standard velocity for months. In Dec. At a gun show, I see a box of 500 that a guy was holding at the vendors table. The price was $35 and the guy was arguing that "its too expensive for 22". So he pilut it down and was looking at a sling. I immediately swooped in and bought it right away. It may be more than what I used to pay, but when you want it that badly the price does not matter. The other guy looked shocked that I was so quick to buy it at full price!

That said, I have about 3000 rounds of 22 and I plan on buying some more soon!

I have found .22 harder and harder to find over the last 3 years... not so new to me...

when it does come back in stock, its gone right away...

so buy what you can when you can I guess.

that would put me out of the shooting hobby if I had to pay centerfire prices for 22lr can`t afford a $500.00 range trip.

So here it goes again...... as gun owners , we create our own shortage of ammo . It happens over and over again . People jump on the net and start a topic about an ammo shortage , folks read it , and the panic and hoarding starts . The United States just went through it , and are just now recovering from the shortage ; but Canada avoided it as the U.S. shooters were hoarding and the Canadian shooters were not . We had lots of ammo , the U.S. had little.....if there is no hoarding , there will be no ammo shortage.....food for thought....
