I'm thinking about buying this Model '94 but it's in rough shape. What would a gun in this condition be worth and what would be the approximate age?
I'll have the serial number tomorrow.

Not sure, but I think it is a post /64. That screw just above the loading port would be the small, other end of the screw, inserted from the inside, if it was made prior to 1964.

The buttstock is throwing me off. But it doesn't look like a good fit. I offered $75 and he's going to think on it.

It needs a forestock for sure.

looks like a parts gun..the stock is a very early one, the action a post 64 and front stock has been reversed or is a rifle wood . pretty shabby...even a $100 would be tops

Is it the screw head you are going by also, to say the action is post 64, or do you see something else?

Tazzy,

Best to know exactly what you have, along with the history.
Then you and the seller, will hopefully be happy with the transaction.

P.S.The butt stock has me curious also. Something doesn't add up.
I have a post 64, (1969). Not the same.

Keep us posted!

I was going to be picking up a 1949 today but that guy decided he needed an extra $25 and sold it someone else after we had a deal. I hate guys like that.

It use to be that a mans word was his bond , but that does not seem to apply today.....he should have kept his word and sold it to you at the agreed upon price , if that was to much to ask , he should at the very least have given you the option of paying the extra 25 and purchasing the rifle...

i apologize for my assumption that the action was post 64. i looked at my 1907 and 1949 and they appear the same as the ones posted. I do not think the two guns are the same one as the one is much darker woods than the other and do not have the same marks in the woods.Until a serial number appears for either one, i still wonder about the age. from the pic, i cannot tell whether it is a strange forearm or just the shadow making it deformed looking. blurry pics do not help much.
