Who carries Alfa revolvers?

I see a non-sponsoring dealer in British Columbia has just picked up the Alfa line of Czech-made revolvers. Are there any others carrying them? Especially dealers in Ontario -- I live in Kitchener and would like to fondle, uh, handle one before deciding to part with my shekels.

Hmm. I think I see the answer here. It's starting to look like Blue Line has found only one dealer willing to take on an unknown line. Does anyone have any comments?

A couple of us have made the leap of faith. Wait for them to get here and for us to do range reports. They are so new that we buyers ARE the leading edge. There's also about 4 other threads just a short way down the list on these guns.

Just got the shipping notice from Rusty Woods. Should be here next week.

Just ordered the 9251C short cylinder from Rusty Wood

Look forward to my first 9mm revolver.

Here's a vid from hippo939 from youtube......this guy has the nicest stuff.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm seriously thinking about handing over my money for one of these.

Why short cylinder vs regular length?

I realize you don't need the full length for the 9mm, but is there an advantage or trade off to go short vs regular?

I would think that the less distance the bullet has to travel before it reaches the barrel the better it would work. This is just a guess on my part.

Actually, it's not the shorter length that I'm interested in.

The short cylinder model has a cool looking unfluted cylinder......nice!!!!

But the reason for shorter cylinder is here.

"It sports a legal 4.5" barrel ( measure from crown to face of cylinder ) but because of the design has an overall length of a standard 4" version."

I may just end up jumping on one of these revolvers.

I'd love a new S&W 9mm revolver but almost $1200USD MSRP this is a very affordable option going the Czech route.

Getting a leather or kydex holster made for the gun won't be much of an issue so unless performance issues arise with these pistols I'm liking them a LOT.

Yeah, I thought about holding out for the 986 but wasn't too interested in a 5" barrel L frame.

So this will do just fine...in fact, if it turns out to be quite the performer, I might have a look at the .22lr as well.

Oh and fyi...Peter at Rusty Wood said the DA pull on the 9mm is about 10-11lbs....that's light in my opinion.

Well I ordered the .357 5". I really thought about getting the 9mm. I'm waiting for a report (buy a fellow CGN) on how well the load/unload with out the moon clip. Or is a guy gonna have to buy a bunch of moon clips. Then I may may get a 9mm revolver. Money already set aside. If I don't like what I hear and am happy with my .357 I'll get a .22 mag.

Got my Alpha 9mm Revolver delivered in the mail today exactly 1 week after I ordered it! Great service from Rusty Wood on this transaction. Won't be able to take it out to the range for about a week, but a couple of initial thoughts:

1. Finish is a little bit below that of my Ruger Blackhawk. Most of the edges are nicely rounded. The only sharp edge I found was on the barrel lug cut-out for the cylinder ejector rod. The bluing is nicely done in an even matt finish.
2. The stock grips are ok. Nice and firm, but a little plastic feel for me. Glad I added the wood grips to my order.
3. Cylinder lockup is a little looser than my Rugers.
4. Some of the lettering and proof marks look a bit crude.
5. I measured the trigger pull in single action at just under 5 lbs (10 tests ranged 4lb 12 ozs to 5lb 2 ozs). Has just a bit of creep in it. For reference, the single action trigger pull on my Ruger Blackhawk is 3lbs, 10 ozs (think it had been worked on by the previous owner), and 4 lbs 5ozs on my stock Ruger Super Blackhawk.
6. Couldn't measure the double action trigger pull as my Lyman Trigger pull scale only goes up to 12 pounds. Seems like maybe 14 pounds and fairly smooth. For reference, the only other double action handgun I have is a CZ Shadow. That measures out at 11lb 8ozs in double action and noticeably smoother.
7. Rear sights are pretty basic, adjustable for windage and elevation. I am LOVING the bright orange plastic insert on the front sight though. Much easier sight picture for my tired old eyes. Going to see if I can get something similar for my Rugers.

Overall verdict so far is I'm really liking this Alpha Revolver. It's not going to an heirloom quality gun that I will hand down to my kids. It's a great value revolver at a price that's 1/3 of a new Smith and Wesson and going to be part of my regular rotation at the range. Will have to wait until my next range outing to see how well it shoots.

Will add some pics in a bit.

A very small nit - the wood handles are not a perfect fit at the top of the backstrap. But these stimpled grips feel great. Much better than the stock plastic ones.

If we could get a spare 9mm cylinder for the .357mag version I'd be tempted. Would beat getting a Manurhin MR73 with a 3000$ price tag...but then again it wouldn't actually be an MR73.

Ruger makes a 357 Mag single action with an extra 9mm cylinder. I was tempted to buy one, but heard that they were not very accurate when shooting 9mm as the bullet diameter is slightly smaller than 357 Mag. I'm hoping these Alpha revolver barrels are sized correctly for 9mm and not just the standard bore for 357 mag.

Update, just found the test target they shipped with my revolver. Group is maybe just under 1" at 15 yards, so the weakest link in getting good groups is not going to be this revolver.
