Educate me on VZ58 ambi mag release and tactical bolt release brands

All of them are knock offs of Jeff's (NEA) ambi-release. I say in a hands down by far the best is Dlask's AK style mag release. This and a good bolt release really puts this rifle in another league of it's own.

I'm looking for a bolt release myself to compliment the Dlask mag release, but being a lefty I don't have any options. Or do I?

Know a welder? Buy a BC tac one and weld a tab of metal to wrap it to the other side of the rifle.

Sadly I have considered this option, as I haven't been able to find a manufacturer willing to create a ambidextrous bolt release or a left handed bolt release. Welding would be pretty jobber, but I am gonna try one of the right handed ones and see if it still has a use for me.

In our house, we had the NEA sets on two 858s and the Corwin set on another. With the NEA, I had to grind off about an 1/8th inch from where the right side of the mag release meets the bolt release. When I installed the Corwin set, same thing. All rifles were the same model and vintage. So it seems to have been an issue with the rifles I had. Be prepared to do that with the Unobtanium NEA or Corwin.

The Corwin is damned hard steel.

p.s. I'd buy damned near anything Corwin sells without hesitation.

Hmm I hope I don't have to do any adjusting. I just ordered the ambi mag release and the bolt release from Corwin. Once I get my hands on the bolt release, I might need to brainstorm ideas to modify it to work on the left hand side.

So does the dlask release and zahal/corwin bolt release work together? My main concern with the dlask ak style on is it is such a harsh angle back towards your hand (not to mention way too long) that say your whipping your hand up blindly when in the heat of a moment and jab a finger on your mag hand into it or can't quite engage it properly cause your mag slides up to it at a weird angle or you happen to hit your strong hand that's on the pistol grip because you are focusing on your target and fumble, and so on. At least with the zahal/corwin type your trigger finger will always be able to easily and reliably engage it as it is in the exact place your finger SHOUD be after firing your last shot- off the trigger and waiting to get back on it. You can also smack out the mag easily with your support hand and then reach for a new mag instead of banging the new mag into the ak type (if your used to removing a mag first before reaching for a new one). Just my thoughts

I have the large dlask mag release, yeah it's huge, I've never had an issue. I like making mag changes 100% with one hand. I find the dlask very easy to use. One place it truly shines is doing reload with retention drills. That said I haven't used the ambi release that you can actuate with your trigger finger.

I plan to order the extended bolt release from Corwin and I will do a simple video showing the interaction of the dlask mag release and Corwin bolt release.

There are people much more knowledgable than I that frequent this forum. Hopefully others will share their opinions too.

In a gunfight you loose fine motor skills, or so I'm told I've never exchanged gunfire ;) , I like to run my gun as gross motor skills as possible. That's been the only thing keeping me from going to a bolt release, seems very fine motor skill.

I like the grab mag use thumb to release, insert mag, use same hand to slingshot bolt back to load a fresh round.

Has anyone done timed runs using stock or oversized mag release and pulling bolt back to reload verses ambi mag release with tactical bolt release?

I'd be interested to see results from such a test.

I imagine it really comes down to a persons individual skillset and how much time they can spend training.

Pretty damn minimal I'd say, all depends on skill like you said. But for the average person of course the bolt release is more streamlined. I think it's kinda fun spanking the charging handle to chamber the next round

Nothing beats the Dlask magazine release. After seeing this video on youtube I had to buy 1. Also it works perfectly with my BC Tactical bolt release lever.

Just received my Corwin arms Ambi magazine release and bolt release. They do not fit together.... which is disappointing considering you would think they would sell a product that doesn't conflict with each other. Now, I have to grind a piece of the mag release to make it fit. Also, Corwin Arms posted a deal to get the ambi mag release, ambi safety and bolt release for $98 today. And I just bought the bolt release and mag relase 4 days ago.... missed out on that.

Couldn't resist the price ordered from corwin. Sorry Gorno that u missed out on the sale, but thanks for giving us the heads up. Usually I'm the one who misses out.

Ya I got screwed. But, after grinding down the mag release I am satisfied with the fit. The bolt release is somewhat finicky and could probably use some sanding to even out some of the sharp angles. It seems to hang up a little bit at certain angles, even after lube.

We decided that we will no longer carry this product, we received few complaints that in some cases it needs to be modified to work with some brands AMBI Magazine Releases. Few complaints were made on the open forum with our name used to identified this product, we are not the only dealer selling this product on CNG nor the Manufacturer of this product. We decided that we will not sell this particular Tactical Bolt release anymore. We priced it way below our cost to have it all sold as soon as possible. This is a Final Sale on this product no returns or warranty
