Hi everybody! We have received shipping confirmation from Ruger that we have very small numbers of Ruger Gunsight Scout Rifles on a truck on their way to us now -- and since it's been over a year since we saw a Scout Rifle, I'm gonna make these available a little early for the few lucky shooters who have been hunting for one for so long!

We have the magazines in stock in our building right now, as they landed a few days early. So if you're looking to put together a handy rifle with plenty of spare magazines, this is a great chance to do it all at once!

Good to see, I might grab a few 10 round steel mags.

Had very poor luck with the polymer ones, which is a shame, they seemed like they would be great, but I had tons and tons of problems with the 3 I purchased.

Why no flash suppressor on the ones coming up here?

They never have. These are the Canadian model which is actually built on a stainless M77. Us Canadians get an few extra inches of barrel length and it is stainless, much better than the american version which they are jealous of.

Flash suppressors scare the #### out of lefties so they are verboten by the Lieberal laws

It is interesting, because I recall reading somewhere that even Australia gets the flash suppressor version now. I figure the longer barrel is a good trade off for no flash suppressor; let some of that powder burn.

Should be coming with one 10-round magazine in the box with the gun, but as these are the first we've seen in over a year and the first ones of 2014 we are not 100% sure on that yet.

Could someone please comment to the accuracy of the Gunsite Scout Rifle, would it have any chance of being 1 MOA. Please only those that have first hand experience thanks.

I owned one of the first that came into the country... I didn't do much "precision shooting" with it but I found it to be adequate. I would not buy this for a bench rifle though.

Here is me and moose I shot using the gun scout, hi-lux long eye reflief scope and nosler 168gr partitions.

I see the 10rd poly mag on your website. Any chance you can source some 3 or 5 round poly? I'm not interested in metal.

Thanks.

Not a 1 MOA rifle

I only use iron sights with mine (thus far, I'm in the market for a good scout scope, but I spend a LOT of time making decisions). But for me, this is not a 1 MOA rifle. It's accurate enough for me, but not quite a precision rifle. Despite this shortfall, it's very fast for pointing, light, and great for and target acquisition. And it's very accurate for a light, fast, compact and maneuverable‎ rifle.

Maybe it's possible to get 1 MOA with the apropriate talent, ammo and a bipod or bench... But I could never do it. But don't get me wrong, this is hands down the greatest ever bush bashin' rifle, at least the way I see it. I love mine personally - it's still my all time favourite firearm ever. I've convinced two buddies to buy 'em, and they're just as happy as I am. But it's not going to win you any long range precision competitions or sniper-type shooting matches.

Now all that said - the trigger is FANTASTIC... It's got a tight, crisp feel to it - not a super-light trigger, but no unnecessary play. Very short pull, and it's probably between 4-5 lbs (I'm guessing - never measured it). But then again, for a bush rifle, a really light trigger pull is a liability and not an advantage. So for the bush, the standard factory trigger is quite acceptable. If you do decide you want a light precision trigger, consider whether one of the M77 (Mark II) after market triggers might work:

or

Lastly, if you want a traditional scope on it (the scout scope might not be best for precision shooting) and if you don't mind the weight, go for the XS sight systems extended rail. I got mine from Brownell's.

And yeah, I would rather have an extra 2" longer barrel than a flash hider.
