Hi Guys,

I am looking for a savage arms in 375 Ruger, preferably with a box mag. I have searched almost all of our sponsors with no success. Anyone no where I might be able to locate one in stock?

Any advice appreciated.

I have the Bearhunter in 375 Ruger, it has the drop floor plate. I think they're all like that. Why would you want 375 Ruger in dbm? I doubt you will be shooting more than a couple rounds at anything?

Just easier for when your loading quick out of the truck. And I like to have 3 mags, one in the truck, one in my pack, one on my person. No issues against internal, but given the choice I like a box mag

I thought there was one at Nechako Outdoors in Prince George. Unless they sold it recently.

They did have one last week, but I was still doing research at the time, and it has since sold. I was considering the Ruger Hawkeye, but it has controlled feed which is a no go for me.

Why? Most see this as a positive thing.

Very true. But although controlled feed has some great advantages, it does require the cartridge to be "picked up" out of the magazine. I like the option of being able drop a round in and close the bolt, in those rushed situations. I have broken the extractor on a controlled fed bolt before from this, and for me it just doesn't seem to justify anything over push feed. Different strokes for different folks is all.

It is in those "rushed situations" that I'm glad I have almost all of my rifles in CRF. As long as you run it like a hungry lion, it always chambers for me. You can't namby pamby a gun and you should always run that bolt with authority. I do understand the need for a push feed, if I was a truck hunter. But, I hunt far off the beaten path, and I rarely remember a situation where I couldn't drop a round or two into my gun. I am always at the ready. I can't really see how it is THAT much more time-consuming to "toss a round" into the chamber versus just pressing it into the magazine. I don't have to be able see the opening in the action to be able to "munch" a round in. And with a .375 Ruger. Who needs more than a single shot anyhow?

The Ruger M77 can be top fed without any issues. So can the Winchester M70. Any that I've owned at least. Best of luck with your rifle search. No matter which rifle you end up with, the 375 Ruger is a dandy... :)
