Shorten PAL Approval Times

Mine was RPAL

The lady on the phone today did say they are only doing one reference call now as they are so backed up with applications. I have heard this from a few other people too say the AB and BC are only doing one ref. check.

17 Jan : Application received - confirmed with tracking #
31 Jan : Called, told unable to check if in system.
03 Feb : Called again today, asked to check if in system. Still nothing. Nothing charged to CC yet either...
10 Feb : Application online!! "Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date."
10 Feb : CC charged.
10 Feb : Phoned to do interview but account was not ready for interviews yet.
13 Feb : Phoned to do interview but was told "application has not been scanned into system, couldn't do interview. call back in a couple days"
14 Feb : Called into ext. 2533 to request to do my interview. Was told I didn't need to do one and I could just have 1 reference call in and then my application would be sent to the CFO
14 Feb : Reference interview done!
18 Feb : "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"

Ditto.

And yes BC is moving things along pretty nicely right now. No idea why but trust me if you go back pages into this thread you can see there were some dark times for BC PAL/RPAL applicants.

I was telling a friend who was shocked I had a PAL # on the 29th day that I think the key is make sure your app is tight.

I quadruple checked mine, made absolutely sure my pic matched the requirements, clear hand writing, everything I could to make sure it was the easiest app they’d deal with that day, week, month.

I suspect some folks may have some chicken scratch...make the odd boo boo or just plain pooch their apps. I get it, none of those things should be a hinderance. Just spit balling. But if I was prone to any of those I'd get someone else to help me fill it out. I happen to have good printing when I slow down actually make an effort. Which if you saw my normal printing would seem like a stretch.

Then the keeping an eye out for when the CC is charged and it shows online and then calling in. Be sweet as apple pie.

Then get your references to call in.

Then I suspect there is a small aspect of luck of the draw as it seems my app have bypassed the CFO at the CFC level.

And my final point...I am a sample size of one and could very well have no idea what I am talking about. But the steps above worked for me. :)

That's the ticket, having it approved by the CFC , if it goes to the BC CFO it could take a couple days to a couple months. It's all random I was told by the CFC. My time line is the same as 604hunter and Lastcar

Told you that you would be approved on Monday. Now that you have your licence number, get a club membership and apply for ATT. Should take about 4-5 days.

For reference:

Alberta
Received my Restricted PAL in the mail Tuesday, Feb. 18th.
37 days from them receiving my application to a plastic card in my hands.

Called in today to check the status, talked to a very polite lady. She informed me they just finished entering my application in to their system today. said I should get a call within the next week or two, if I haven't received one to call back in... The recording prior to speaking to an agent states more than once not to call in, they will call you lol.
